Can anyone give me any advice as to the best way to get rid of mice when I cant use the ultrasonic things because they will hurt my pets ears.

I have 2 house bunnies and 2 hamsters and so I cant use the plug in things.

I havent actually seen any mice but have noticed the odd bit of droppings which I know arent my hamsters (theyre in places the hammies dont go)

Can anyone help me out, is there a plug in thing that wont hurt the pets, or is there another way to get rid of them?

And I cant get a cat because the above mentioned pets and the dog.

Thanks!

Clean occasionaly? :p

The serious answer isn't any better, we had mice, it was an attached house at both sides, as the neighbors were scum we couldn't get rid of them no matter how many traps we used or kept everything spotless, they were comming through the walls! Had to move out

Get secure bait boxes with poison inside and lay them out along the skirting boards and in corners where you've seen droppings. That, or lay traps in the same locations as KC suggested. Forget the old wives tale about cheese; rodents go crazy for peanut butter and cooked bacon rind ;)

I think thats the problem, next doors house isnt exactly tidy.

Last time we had them (just over a year ago) we caught a few in the humane traps and released them elsewhere (yes far away) and then we packed all the pets off somewhere for 2 weeks and put the plug in thing in, but I didnt really enjoy doing that, and we have more pets elsewhere in the house now.
And as for poisoning them I worry they will go and die somewhere else and then stink the house out when they rot.

Grrrrr!

cat from the cat protection place. get the meanest looking one thats been horribly abused. it will be an awesome killer, ours was and turned out to be best cat we ever had too!

no mice and save a cat. 2 in 1

And then one day id come home to find my hamsters cages broken into and my ickle babies gone!

Then there's only 2 options train the hamsters to fight mice 1 on 1

or get your self a knife wielding, armor plated lobster.

HAHA
Where can I get me one of them!
Or will the picture be enough to scare the mice away if I pin it up somewhere at floor level?
:p

To discourage the animals from entering, Seiffert recommends putting a few drops of peppermint essential oil on cotton balls and placing them around the house. Homeowners can also sprinkle the oil directly on floors and walls and items, or make a scented spray with two teaspoons of oil per cup of water.

Read that a while ago, its so stupid it might just work :p

thats a terrible trap, could have crushed it's tail :/

The best thing would be those little cage ones that they can run into but not out of with some food and water in, that way if you catch one of your hamster you can just set it free if it's a mouse it will be ok till you find it and can set it free somewhere.

That or keep the mice as pets :D

This is not true bro, the stick that the bait is attached to it thick enough to leave a little gap around the edge of that half of the trap (thick enough for a mousey tail! :P) when the trap has dropped on it.
