How long till thermal paste beds in?

Hi,

I understand that there is usually a time period when the thermal paste needs to set before you should start looking at temperatures etc. How long is this typically?

You need to read manu's info.

AS5 is 200 hours others don't need time cure.

AS5 and MX-2 both have 200 hours IIRC.

what about renewal time? should u replace paste after some ammount of time x ???

You just reminded me, mx 2 does have to be replaced, i think it has to be changed after a year.

As said, doesn't need any settling in time though.

OCZ Freeze doesn't need any bed in time either. Read a couple of reviews where they rated it the best of the lot. OCUK used to sell it but didn't have it listed the last time I looked.

Read the instructions as I used it today. It says it lasts 8 years

Lol, you're right.

I'm sure i read a review somewhere that said it needed to be reapplied after a year.

Dont doubr it.. Manufacturers claims are not always to be trusted.. Could well start gaining in cpu temperature every year but as far as they are concerned its still okay

Not that it really matters, most of us change heatsinks or cpus within a year any way

Well I waited around 48 hours and I now have a very nice 10C drop from the intel stock cooler. Very pleased.
