TF2 Heavy Update

Cant really compare it to TFC myself as have never played it, was a geneal observation based on possibly 40mins of play (Very unfair really).

Did manage to knock somebody the **** out with a bat though :D

That all depends on the servers you're playing on and the time of day.

I'm talking about my general experiences with TFC from when it came out, and with TF2, from then it came out...

Generally the communication was far more forthcoming in TFC, and generally far more informative/useful, for some reason...

Yup.

People always have to whine and compare it to TFC

Yup.

People always have to stick an oar in and start stirring up some controvery... (you're a prime example - over and over in this thread - Dip in, have a quick dig, duck out again) - Give it a rest and let us grown ups have a nice little chat please... No need for your antics...

What antics? I'm bored of people constantly bringing up TFC in TF2 threads.

As for that comment about people seeming to speak more in TFC, that's ridiculous and of course completely server based.

I think it is partly because I don't know the maps and am not used to the gameplay yet! I really liked the fact that you can call for medics and the engineers are brilliant.

I accidently pressed "G" I think and my little character started partying on down, brilliant!! There are some things you can't buy! For everything else there is mastercard!!

At least twice now you've come into this thread accusing people of 'whining' for example, just because they've dare made a comparison between TFC and TF2.

Now:-
1) TF2 is the successor to TFC, so comparisons are to be expected.
2) People have different opinions on what is good/bad in TF2 and TFC, so comparisons are to be expected.

So, simply coming in, anytime anyone compares the two, and throwing terms like 'whining' around is basically just 'flaming'. You're jumping in with nothing more than an insult for simply no reason...

How is my comment ridiculous? I'm simply saying in my experience (five years almost on a daily basis with TFC), and coming up ten months (?) with TF2 (not quite so often :)), I've witness far less communication in TF2.

I don't tend to frequent any particular servers, just pick them from the internet at random according to map and ping...

I can't speak for others, but my personal experience seems to show this is the case...

Press G when you're a pyro and carrying an a shotgun, for a nice move :) Especially if an enemy is infront of you at the time :)

I think TFC had more typing just because a lot of people didnt use voice coms back then :/

I remember lots of people having allsorts of messages bound to keys so that they could warn of incomings etc

Now they should use voice coms but they dont :P

Phal just see your sig :) might give it a try later!

TBH we rarely try to get people on it these days because its too much hassle :P hehe we just use it for clan games etc.

The Hampshire Heavies servers are regularly full and have decent players to learn from usually :) They also have stats if youre into that etc. My only gripe with their servers is that the rounds are too long :/ Spending 40 mins on a map is too long imo but aside from that its cool.

The other server I like recently is the Uberium clan pub server because it has nice quick 25 min rounds and default spawn times.

On the whole I try to stay away from servers with 1/2/3 map rotations because I like variety. I also stay away from insta spawn servers because insta spawn breaks most CP maps and makes the last cap almost impossible to cap without severe team imbalance

Anyway, feel free to add me to your steam friends list if you wanna see what servers Im on :) can find me with my email address - [email protected]

This is what I find confusing. TFC was hard to communicate in, as generally your had to type like a lunatic to get a point across... But in TF2 it should be easy - Just plug in a mic and off you go - But (in my experience) it just doesn't seem to be the case, and I can't work out why...

...And then when you do find mic'd up people they seem more interested in having a little unrelated chat than helping each other :)

Maybe, as other are suggesting, I'm frequenting the wrong servers, but I don't choose the same ones over and over, or ones with descriptions such as "unfriendly buggers only", so I really don't understand why I see so little useful communication in TF2... :)

In some ways I think Id prefer if people used binds to communicate more so I wouldnt have to listen to their annoying voices lol :p

Most people dont use their mics so why is it that the people that do use their mics will sound like annoying retards 9 out of 10 times :P
