Has OcUK mislead me/others - opinions please....

Wasn't trying to be smart. I do take your point. I did try webnote and telephone support first - I'm not about to condone or recomment to everyone sorting out any of their problems with the shop on the forums - it would become maybe, nobody needs that.

I know I laced my OP with details and quotes from my own greivance - but the thread was original writted with the general angle of 'can the E2180 be sold as a Core2'.

Edit: Good idea/bad idea: Unboxing goody bag pics - lol??

Don't say that, I wrote the white jiffy bag with my own loving hands!

Unboxing the bag would be funny, but probably a little anti-climax but you never know!

Probably the free invoice that you get with every order that somebody from OCUK mentioned last week :D

It only got sent out today, so maybe pics on Monday (I'll do them if I think they'll be of interest). Im not expecting anything great - I see it as a token gesture, and I can appreciate that.

I reckon it's an empty box from a real C2D just so you know what you're missing out on :D

This has happened before. Usually one reseller will believe they can gain a competative advantage by (rightly or wrongly) promoting a product to be more than it is, then other resellers are left little option but to follow suit for fear of loosing sales.

Last time I saw this was when the 478 socket Celerons were released, systems and cpus were being labeled as "Pentium 4 Celeron"

I have to say that my one complaint about ocuk would be the item descriptions, there has been a few times I have read descriptions that are cut+paste with minor technical errors but rarely anything major.

Except one time I was looking at a old AMD chip for getting a old machine back up and running and the description was calling it the latest and greatest tech. that raised a smirk.
