Tea - milk first or last?

  • Walk into kitchen.
  • Pick up kettle.
  • Remove lid.
  • Place under cold tap.
  • Turn on said tap for several seconds.
  • Turn off said tap.
  • Replace Lid.
  • Now depending on whether it is electric or gas place on hob or plug it in.
  • Make sure the wall switch is on or the gas is lit.
  • Twiddle your thumbs and remember a watched kettle never boils.
  • When the water has boiled place a tea bag in a clean cup.
  • Pour in the boiling water.
  • Let it brew or if you're impatient mash the bag a bit.
  • Remove the bag.
  • Go to the fridge and open the door.
  • Take out some milk, skimmed or full, whatever you prefer.
  • Stir the tea as you add the milk.
  • Put milk back in fridge.
  • Add sugar as required and stir.

Enjoy.

Teabag
Water
Stir well so it's black
Take out teabag
Milk (milk after water because if milk is in first, because it's thick it can block up the teabag)
2 x sugars :)

Actually, this.

As Follows:
- add 1 yorkshire teabag + 2 teaspoons of sugar, pour in boiling water 3/4 full.
- brew for 2-5 minutes then squeeze teabag dry and discard.
- add milk until colour is a rich orangey brown.

job done, one perfectly strong cuppa. :)

I don't usually have milk in my tea or sugar. Black tea as strong as possible is my way.
But generally, last, or the tea is just going to be stupidly weak because you are trying to brew the tea in hot milky water as opposed to boiling water.

If I was going to have milk and sugar it would be
teabag in, sugar in (disolves quickly then), water, stir, squeeze to get it as strong as possible (brewing means it gets too cold usually, stir and squeeze gets it strong and hot), then stir again, add milk, stir.

Sugar

Tea Bag (or coffee)

Water

Milk

Stir

You can't put sugar in after water unless you only take one or are using packets of sugar. Otherwise the wet spoon in the sugar tin makes a mess. Also if you spill sugar it can stick to the edge of the cup. Which is rubbish.

It all depends if you are using a teapot.

only correct post in this whole thread.

if you're brewing in-cup, then milk goes in after you've taken the bag out. for those who are interested, the Sugar goes in before the water to ensure it dissolves properly.

if you're brewing in-pot, then the milk goes in the cup before the tea goes in.

It's tea, how difficult can it be?

My grandad started giving me tea with I was a few months old and since then I'd had tea daily.

Hot water in cup
Put in tea bag
Twirl the bag around then squeeze before exit
Put in Cold or hot milk until it's as creamy as you like
Drink
Profit???
