Is this the Google Street View vehicle?

This vehicle was stopped outside my house earlier today and the driver was checking a map, I'm pretty sure this is the Google Street View vehicle. I think they started capturing images a month or two ago in the UK.

Whats the point in this, okay it might be good to look at, but wheres the return on investment for them?

I can't imagine its a cheap process to record pictures of nearly every street, what do they get in return for doing this?

Should have got a bit of transparent red plastic, covered the left lens, got your white marker pen and written "ronnoC haraS ...gnihcraeS".

I while ago I saw a vehicle like that and joked that it was a google maps drone, then it turned the corner and there was a little google card stuck to the window
