Seing as my RMA for the Corsair HX520 is going to take ages and i have no confidence in there PSU's anymore, im looking to get a new PSU then flog my Corsair later. Im looking at Thermaltakes as i used to have one and it was rock solid, and i found this one which looks good to me -

Is this a good one ? Anyone else have one ? Specs are in sig for what it would be powering + 1 hdd and 1 dvd drive.

Toughpowers/PSUs of that CWT design seem to use sometimes also non Japanese capacitors (at least CWT got over Chinese Fyhjjyu timebombs) but performance wise that design has fared very well in reviews and also PSUs of that design have been available for enough long time that any bigger quality problems should have shown themselves.
But I wouldn't trust CWT's noise level so I would take something made by Seasonic. (funny how all these companies advertising their PSUs as quiet never want SPCR to review them)

Maximum peak draw is around 250-270W so you don't definitely need anymore than 600W, even if you add second card.

You mean one of those old Thermaltakes?
(fact that some PSU worked in one PC doesn't mean quality is high because real power requirements of components are smaller than advertised)

Would it be worth getting a cheaper PSU then as i wont need that 600w ? Theres another thermaltake i could get, the ThermalTake TR2 Value 470W. Its a lot cheaper, and i think it should cover me. Also, my old Thermaltake was a proper one, not 1 provided with a case :).

I have the TR2 550W hasnt let me down:) had it for about year and a half. Good quality cable wraps and lots of peripherals for fans, HDD's, etc. I would go with the Tr2 470W, 600W is a tad excessive.

If you're buying Thermaltake then stick to the Toughpower series, the TR2's are not as good.

Better than both would be a PC Power and Cooling 610W Silencer, rock solid, quiet and would power 2 4850's.

Didn't read link I gave?
That's exactly one of those old weak 12V design mediocre ThermalJunks I wouldn't trust to power PC made in last half dozen years.
(ATX 2.0 has been obsolete for four years 2.2 around for three years)

Antec EarthWatts/Neo HE/Truepower Trio and Corsair VX450 are modern design honestly rated budget PSUs.

Better than both would be a PC Power and Cooling 610W Silencer, rock solid, quiet and would power 2 4850's.
Correction, three of them (~110W per card) and fastest quad core.
