I just found out that not only have overclockers refused to fix my Asus motherboard as they didnt see the problem (it wont run for more than 30 mins without a bsod with all 4 ram slots in use); they've also taken £22 from my credit card. What sort of ****ing service do they call this? not only have they now lost my soundcard, RMA'd a non working motherboard to me...then refused to correct that...they've now decided to start stealing money from my account. I will be getting in touch with my CC issuer immediatly and telling them this is a fraudulent use of my CC.
I expected much better of OC but it seems they're only good as long as you don't have a problem with an item.

if the item was returned to you as non faulty then you will be charged for returning the item and a fee for testing.

read the RMA T&C's

Testing. All returned items not returned in accordance with the Distance Selling Regulations (2000) are tested by Overclockers UK technicians. Any item found to be not faulty will be subject to a £10 +VAT charge if collected or a £10 + return shipping + VAT charge if shipped back to the customer. You will be notified by e-mail before any non-faulty goods are returned to you. This does not affect your statutory rights

The item IS faulty, it doesnt work...and theyve taken a lot more than the £10+vat quoted above.
Do OC think i have nothing better to do than continiously rebuild my system and send back perfectly good hardware cos im bored?
They also only emailed me AFTER posting the goods back to me and made no mention of plans to take money. I suspect they tested it like others have been done in here...put on a slow cpu with 2 slow ram sticks and said..woo it DOES work; the board does NOT work with all 4 ram slots being used.
It seems the only time you get good service is when you're giving them money, when it comes to them having to bite the bullet they're not intrested.

Before you returned it did you adjust the chipset voltages to compensate for using 4 sticks? This is a common issue, that can be easily overcome if it's the cause.

i suggest you take this up with them via phone or webnote then, out of interest did you test your ram or increase the chipset voltage to run 4 sticks?

edit, ooh the jokester beat me :p

Didn't this happen awhile ago? at which point he was suspended for the post on these forums.

I had something similiar happen to me recently (after several RMAs without any issues) - with a lot of persistance they will get it sorted eventually - took me around 30 days.

Looks like he/she has been suspended, what's strange is that there are no posts re the problem asking for help just this post venting his/her unhappiness.

Im pretty sure ocuk cant take the £22 without giving a proper checkout screen or warning about a prevalidated payment and accompanying reciept. Have they even given a reciept after taking the money? The bank will side with the OP.

Looking at the bigger picture it's obvious to see some people are just not cut out for building there own PC's, it's not so much a complete lack of basic hardware knowledge but more to do with lack of patience and an incredible desire to apportion blame.

Even if smilertoo was correct and he did have some faulty hardware then popping your top isn't really gonna help get the situation resolved! :D

I can honestly say, hand on heart that on the few rare occasions I have had to return hardware to OcUK they have always looked after me very well, they really are one of the best.

Only downside to OcUK RMA I have found in the past was after recieving some DOA hardware I had to get it sent back myself and at my cost which is not right however with a bit of nudging and a few phone calls you get your postage refunded. I put it more down to running a huge busy business and having problems keeping on top of the admin and not them trying to scim £7.00 off me! :o

I had the same too for several years with the odd RMA - however when something does go wrong... its a long drag to get it sorted - I had pretty much same experience as the OP - in the end I got a GPU worth almost twice what I had ordered as way of compensation - but it was still an up hill battle.

it was still an up hill battle.
While I agree with that statement if we were to flip the coin round and look at this from OcUk the eTailors point of view . . . selling hardware is a NIGHTMARE, so many people buying hardware and really not having any clue what they are doing, they maybe read these forums or a magazine like CPC and it all looks so easy, well in the end when you have a few builds under your belt it may be easy but when you first start its almost game over when you press the power button and nothing happens!

All I can say is nOOb builders never had it so good, when I first started there was no consumer internet, no forums etc, your only hope of finding a fix for a hardware issue was to visit a local computer fair and pick the brains of the traders selling hardware! :o

I think OcUK get a little swamped with admin sometimes, not suprising really as they are quite a big company now . . .I wonder though, is it all run by blokes or do they have any super organised woman behind the scenes! :D

Fair enough but theres no excuse for what happened to me - and probably no excuse for whats happened to the OP if it is as I imagine - caught in a similiar loop - the problem being your kinda caught in a situation where the laziness/incompetence of one employee has a disproportionate effect on your experience - which isn't representitve of OCuk as a whole - and unfortunatly until it comes to the attention of someone much higher up the company its like pounding on a brick wall and it takes awhile for it to work up the chain.

laziness/incompetence
It's the same both ways, I'm sure a large amount of kit that gets returned is working perfectly, I see it all the time in these forums where the poster is referring to his new purchase as "The biggest POS I ever owned" :o

As soon a piece of hardware doesn't work in the way the incompetant buyer was expecting its rant rant rant POS this utter carp that etc, its just pure frustration because something isn't working and they don't know why its not working so its spit the dummy out time lol! :p

It a pain getting a dodgy bit of hardware but these days if I have a problem I triple check it deffo the hardware before I even think about calling up an RMA. In the event I actually do RMA something I am 99.9% sure what the problem is and how to reproduce it, I also include an A4 document entitled 'Engineers Notes' so that the poor sod who has to sit there all day testing mostly good hardware has something to work with and can confirm the fault quickly instead of going through his regular 5 point check etc . . .
