I'm back baby!
The young un wants some frogs. Is there any reason against this?

There's an urban wildlife reserve off the back of my auntie's street that is crawling with them every night. Any reason why I can't go grab a couple? Any illnesses or nastiness that they carry?

I'm guessing soil, mud, water and wood are pretty much everything needed to keep them in a tank?

make sure theres a section of dry land/rocks for them to sit on.

What you planning on feeding them?

You dont want frogs, you wanna get some toads like Me / Blackstar (she has "custody" of them :p) :D

They look cooler than frogs, they make cooler noises than frogs and they catch things in a cooler way than frogs. They are poisonous too  (only very slightly)

EDIT: Fire-bellied toads that is :)

They're going in a 4 year old's bedroom. I'd rather not have anything poisonous :p

Common Frogs in this country are a protected species. It's illegal to move them.

Best bet is to set up a nice wildlife pond in your garden and wait for them to populate it themselves. No legal issues then.

Or buy some! White's Tree Frogs, Red Eye Tree Frogs, and Argentine Horned Frogs are all awesome pets. Horned Frogs ("Pac Man Frogs") have a bite like a bulldog though, and can literally kill rats so I wouldn't put one near a child's inquisitive fingers :o Mine was great fun though. Read up on White's Tree Frogs. They're great, and easy to care for. HTH :)

EDIT: Teaser -

The Green Tree Frog is one of the most popular pet frogs throughout the world. Its docile nature, often cartoon-like appearance, and long life expectancy make it an attractive choice for exotic pet owners. It is also one of the easier frogs to care for: their diet is broad and they have a strong resistance to disease.

No don't bother, it will only die due to lack of food.
If you want to get him a frog get him a Captive Bred species that is slightly more interesting.
I keep and breed poison dart frogs, they're cool but a whites tree frog or similar are cheap and easy to care for :)

LOL No probs, I'm just yanking your chain. You don't keep reps as well do you? Your name sounds familiar...

I did, I've only got some Phelsuma klemmeri now though. I frequently help my mate out with his venomous collection but thats about it these days. Too little time to spend with these things. The dogs come 1st at the moment :).
And no, I don't think you know me :).

Ah OK, nm then :) You'd have known me as Kiros Reptiles anyway, if you did. I did a lot of stuff with Petsnakes UK and The Reptile Trust (before it became the EAWT). Those were the days :)

No I don't know you im afraid :). Those were the days though yeh, some time ago now though. I tend to keep out of the reptile circles etc now, too much bitching on between everyone :).

I run this site though if you're interested.

www.dendroworld.co.uk - Dart frog site :), I've got far less now but used to breed pumilio and other rare darts. Good fun but expensive when these guys die!

I'll check it out :D And yeah, unfortunately I know what you mean. The working dog world's going the same way in some circles as well (working = hunting, search and rescue, and protection dogs in my case). Oh well, I'll leave Gilly to his thread unless he wants to hit us up for more info. As I said I'll drop by your site Jon. TTYL.
