Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution - PS3

There's a demo of it on the PSN, or there was when it came out anyway. I personally thought it was alright, but I don't think I'd go out and spend 40 quid on it. But tbh you should download the demo and see for yourself whether you like it or not.

I bought it, its ok but for some reason I've barely played it since the first week or so. I might just trade it in, theres nothing technically wrong with it but there isn't anything drawing me back :(

Yeah age of empires is a RTS game whereas civ is a turn-based strategy game. Like Shamikebab said they're very different. Probably the main reason I'm put off the civ games is because they're turn-based rather than real-time, so everything just seems to progress so much more slowly.

Maybe I must just have a pretty short attention span :)

I bought it on release, played one game and then it sat on my shelf til I sold it yesterday. It just didn't grip me at all.

So more like Gates of Troy or Rome?

I liked it and played quite a few games as it was a nice challenge, however, the AI can be quite aggressive (for the sake of it, it seems - even when it's obvious the AI is attacking a far more well advanced civilisation) and I did find myself wanting it to be a little more complex (or at least have options to fine tune the game).

Overall I'd give the game maybe 7 or 8 out of 10 - it is decent for a fix of turn based strategy, and the games are reasonably short at around 3 hours, with some interesting scenarios and a game of the week feature.

Shame there will be no trophy support as some of the 360 achievements look like they would be fun to try and get :)

I only played the demo. There's a whole load of turn taking, but not much really goes on in those turns (at least not in the first 100 turns). Same thing with the original PC Civ4 imo.

A better turn based RTS is the Total War series. It's set over one time period, but there is a lot more to do on the map, and you are able to actually fight in the battles too.

I've been thoroughly enjoying this game the last week or so. The slight simplifications all work in streamlining the experience and I'm enjoying this version of Civ more than any other since 2 and Alpha Centauri.

PS yes the achievements are a real blast to work for.

I just started playing this yesterday and was really surprised at it, it's a very good rework of the game, really enjoyable.

Am loving this game :D What is the best way to research tanks? Every time I choose to go online I always get beat due to not having tanks or guns etc?
