This gen of consoles is all about what that box under your tv can do apart from playing games. What are your favorite and least favorite features for this gen of consoles?

Favorite Features:
Downloadable pick up and play games.
Streaming content from the pc.

Least favorite features:
Internet explorer (why bother if its a broken mess?)
Game installs (Just annoying at times)

I like the fact that I don't need to bother with a Bluray player as I already have one!

I don't like the game installs though, or the size of the demos - my 40GB PS3 drive is already almost full.

Achievements- by far one of the most amazing ideas. So many times have I gone back to a game I never usually would just to get more achievements :o

Cost cutting hardware- Don't tell me Microsoft couldnt have made the 360 drive quieter / the hardware more reliable by spending more on the manufacturing. Same with Sony cutting bits out to make the Ps3 cheaper

Good call on the Achievements, they're something which draws me back to games which I normally wouldnt look at again :)

Good:
Achievements
Downloadable games eg. Xbox Live Arcade

Bad:
No dedicated servers for online games. Practically entirely ruins what would otherwise be a perfect online gaming experience.

HD. Ok this feature isn't exactly bad, but it came too early. It was just unecessary to implement it at the time, and it was unfair to implement it at a time when HDTV's were not standard, expecting people to shell out loads for a HDTV just to experience games properly. In some cases it made it difficult to play games (Text on Dead rising for example) and worse (Lesser image quality) than it would have otherwise been for people playing on SDTV's who couldn't afford to upgrade, due to downscaling from HD resolutions. Also I don't believe the sacrifice in graphical detail and possibly other aspects of the game were worth trading off to render in a higher resolution.

Good - achievements, HD, wireless controllers, wireless connections, storage space, downloadable content, improvements via software/firmware downloads

Bad - lack of standard SKUs, Sony not making (so far) full use of Trophies, tacked-on controls for Wii games

The wii and PS3 both have web broswers built in. Both aren't worth using though. I've only used the wii browser for watching videos on youtube.

Best Features

Online Co-op for Consoles
Achivements/Trophy system
DLC

Worst Features

Price of a certain console
a lot of bargain bin games
Seperate pehiperals
Pay to Play online features

Good - Achievements, Wireless controllers
Bad - Developers allowing poor framerates to make it to retail (GTA IV, Mass Effect), Sony taking ages to release in-game XMB, Microsoft's point system

Edit: Oops, my first bad wasn't really a feature, nor was my second.

Good - Achievements, Wireless controller, Xvid/Divx Playback

Bad - 512mb RAM whether split or bulk it wasnt enough and also the 360 Core console

I actually dont mind paying for XBL, its an awesome service and fully merits its £40 a year for a Gold membership.

Me too - if it was free, it wouldn't be as good quite simply. Microsoft especially would have to start cutting corners and it would turn into a budget service. Id much rather pay £40 a year

Only the lazy and stupid pay forty pounds a year for Live. Anybody who makes the effort finds it cheaper.

Live is my favourite feature of this gen, as it was last gen. It was, the ONLY reason I bought a console this time and last time round.

Its a good service, but when you can play online on PC/Wii/PS3 for free at the moment then the 360 fails in comparison. Its too much to pay for what it is. I dont mind paying just not that much.
