So guys as explained in another thread I had been fighting orange today about a 12month upgrade which had been processed as an 18month upgrade! Despite me having this is writing in the form of an e-mail customer service on the phone would not change it or offer any assistance.

I gave up after 46minutes with them after they put me on hold to speak to their department. I then went down to the Orange Shop in Glasgow showed them the email and despite his best efforts the helpful sales assistant couldnt get them to talk about it and change it either. He then pointed me in the direction of the Upgrade Teams number and to try there for some help when I got home.

So I phoned the upgrade team and got put through Nicola who was very sympathetic towards the fact I had called everyone under the sun and also the situation. I told her I could email her the info etc and she could double check that for me. She checked over my account on her system and informed me it was down as 18months and not the 12 as was feared. She believed I was genuine and warranted the change. However we had to wait for the supervisor so she called me back once the situation was sorted.

20mins later I recieved Nicola's call back who basically asked me what I would like to do now. I informed her of a T-Mobile deal I had been offered today for £30 Web n Walk 700 mins Unlimited Texts Unlimited Net and a free HTC Touch Diamond and I was considering going for it. She then passed me through to disconnections to see if they could beat it....which they could.

So After todays stressful debacle of Foreign Call Centre workers I finally got a voice from the homeland and everything was sorted out for me! I now find myself on 700mins, Unlimited Texts, Unlimited Internet all for £22.50 and also a brand new HTC Touch Diamond for free being delivered on Monday! They certainly have outdone themselves here and I for one am very happy.

So if you were caught up in that 12month upgrade email problem then make sure you make the call. I'm now on my new deal from next month and escaped another 6months of sheer hell on my k850i! :D

Wow I wish I could get that phone and deal for 22.50 :P

yeah I just quoted a deal from T-Mobile and then they just match that and put on all the possible discounts you can get to get you the cheapest price. Just have to be prepared to leave :D I think a lot of members here are paying £22.50 on orange due to these things

It sounds like you got what you wanted out of them, but in all honesty I'd much rather be paying more / getting less and not having to go through so much hassle. It's sort of like how people will defend Dell because they got £200 off their laptop after months of phone calls - that's not customer service, that's just trying to buy you back as a customer.

But congrats on persevering :)

to be fair i only stayed due to ther value of the deal! i will always call the upgrade team now with problems since it was the only way i was guarenteed to speak to someone english! It was all foreign call centre workers who caused my frustration!

Anyways happy man still!

I suffered that with Orange, they seemed to move everything around halfway through my contract, and it went from being able to talk to someone English within a couple of minutes to a 45 minute wait. If the call centres are now overseas then I can't imagine how frustrating that would be.
