Huh? That makes no sense.
I feel your pain after a long struggle to get to my thermostat in which requires you to remove the cambelt... Pain was caused due to a lack of tools, a few head scratching moments then being given the wrong part by the parts shop and then the right part without a correct gasgiiit, then not having the torque settings, then the bloody cambelt tension bolt snapping 
going to have to tackle that tomorrow 
During this time I had to visit shops for numerous tools..
If it doesn't start running properly tomorrow I'm going to burn the thing down...

Rover had their bad reputation due to the head gasket issues on the K series and yeah, some build quality issues. I forgot that most other manufacturers were perfect in every way.

So someone ask a question to the internet about a car they have been working on for 5 hours, its nothing short of huhness.
Just cause I am not a mate of phates doesn't mean I have to applaud his thread. This is a discussion board after all not a lets send phate some money for a new piece of engine board.

Are Ford a British company? Do Ford have backing from the American Government? Most probably.
Just look at TVR and Jaguar... bought out by foreign organisations. Rover were just unfortunate.
And just for the record, I'm NOT saying that Rover were "OMG AWESOME". I'm only too happy to say that MGR no longer have a market in Britain, it's just a shame some people would rather see British engineering (now matter how bad) destroyed.
So much for Great Britain, eh?

We are just Britain now, cant build ships, can build cars, cant really build anything.
I came into this thread wondering why he spent 6 hours on the car trying to find out the problem, I spent weeks trying to figure out the problem on a car and spent a best part of £300 and ended up selling it at a loss, so if he doesn't like it and it cannot be fixed what else does he want.
British engineering killed itself in the 70s no thanks to the workers and unions and Thatcher but that is a WHOLE other thread.
