I have got a set of dumbbells and I have started to work out with them, they are both 4kg and I also have a few smaller weights that I can add on! I have also started to do sit ups and press ups.

My question is what should I be eating and how often and also should I be drinking allot more water?

Sorry for the really stupid questions but I am new to all this, all I want to do is add a bit or definition to my arms and chest.

TIA

Phil

That's not enough equipment and especially weight for you to really be worrying about having a proper diet.

Read the stick by GordyR at the top of the Sports Arena

So just to get some definition i really dont need to worry about what i eat as long as i keep up what i am doing?

I dont want to get in to bodybuilding in any way just want some shape to me lol

You've done it now....

No offence to you sir, but what you think is right here, is actually wrong. You want to build your body up but you dont want to go into bodybuilding? Bodybuilding doesnt necessarily mean changing your whole life, slapping on fake tan and dehydrating yourself for competitions.

Read GordyR's sticky and maybe do some searches on the forum. You wont get far with just dumbells as you really need to work your whole body for anything to grow.

Dont think throwing around some light weights will make your biceps large.

So by eating well, lifting heavier weights and using more equipment, you'll instantly turn into a massive bodybuilder? It takes years of consistent effort and hard training to get anything like you're probably thinking.

What's in that stick in the best way to do what you want.

If not, you can prat about with light weights, but you may aswell just swim/do general exercise loads and try shed some body fat.

Thanks for the advice i have just about finished reading the sticky!

When i say i dont want to get in to bodybuilding i mean just what Wardie said "years of constant effort and hard training", but if you think the way to do it is whats in the sticky then i shall give it a go.
