I cant ever see me going for multiple gfx cards, but am a keen overclocker.. so need a good stable board for max oc of cpu and ram.. will prob end up going for the Intel Quad Pro Q6600, and DDR2, DDR3 not good price performance increas IMO....

My last board was a DFI Expert.. which was nice and stable...

Personally I'd be looking at the gigabyte P45 and X38 boards - they both seem to be stable and capable overclockers.

Thanks....

Just to clarify, is the following order correct:

P43>P45>X38>X48

There are so many overlapping price points, it is hard to distiguish boards from each other.. are their any major differences between these types of boards..??

As above, esp to OC a 45nm CPU (don't know why your buying a old Q6600 now), and it will do 2x8 Crossfire but as its PCI-E 2.0 its not as bad as 2x8 in PCI-E 1.0/1.1.

The Q6600 is a damn good chip. The alternative (Q9550) is twice its price and is only about 15% better.

None of the quads seem to have the value for money that the Q6600 did atm. I say 'did' because the days of 1Ghz ez clocks for the Q6600 G0 seem to be numbered.

OP: You could think about buying a E8600 E0
