4870 to 9800GX2.

GX2 is a great card any game max res, AA, AF, no microstutter compared to Cry-sys.

Any game max res, AA, AF?. I don't think so :o. Stick higher than 4xAA @ 1920x1200 on a bunch of recent games and see how it pans out. It was these kind of situations that brought the 8800GT, GTS(512mb) and GX2 performances tumbling whilst the bandwidth of the G80 GTX showed where Nvidia went wrong with these cards for the high definition gamer who likes max settings with some AA in there also.

Or were all the review sites wrong and somehow this has went away?. I think 1920x1200 is going to be dodgy title dependant and the amount of AA required will affect also.

you wont need more than 4xAA at any res above 1680x1050 as the difference when going higher isnt noticable. i run all my games with 4x AA max settings with no lag at all, including GRID, UT3, COD4

GRID does look bad without AA i must say - esp the menus :)

Just last night i was running HL2 ep1/2 max AA and max AF with VSync constant 60fps at 1920x1200, wish the "modern" games were like this :p

Jesus christ, just keep the damn card.

Honestly, why do people change cards when they already have top ones? Does it make any REAL difference?

No it doesn't.

Let's switch cards just so we can try new Crysis configs and post the FPS on forums, too bad the actual game sucks, great idea right?

You play at 1680x1050 and want to change the 4870, you are quite simply crazy or idiotic, a mix of the two.

I'm thinking about swapping my 4870 for a 8800GT 640MB guys, it has more mamories afterall :D :p

8800GT 640mb? When did they release that? :p

I aint doing it for the memory, I know it only has 512mb ram, just thought it was faster, I aint even going to bother now anyway.

that's with fanspeed adjustment though anything above 25 is too noisy for me which gives you an idea on how quiet my pc is :p

or just want to try a new card

But WHY? You have, what the second fastest single card out? (By single I mean single GPU)

GTX 280 > 4870 > Other cards

That's it, why on earth would you want to go to a crappy 9800GX2 or any other card for that matter?

Christ I will never understand some people, the changes to components people make are utterly retarded at times.

You're almost as bad as the guy who wanted to go from Core 2 Duo to Phenom because he liked the way AMD's feel or something.

Come on man nothing wrong with trying tons of hardware tbh!, I never see you moaning at everyone else on here who does it, I bet you have done it before too!

I've never done it, not once.

I upgrade smartly, I don't get stuff for tiny increases or a different brand.

The only sidestep I did do was going from an 8800GTX to a GT, again that was a smart thing as I lost pretty much nothing and gained £100.

I knew Will would end up on a Nvidia same as last time, anyone offered the GTX280 you want so far ?.

And did you get a 45nm Dual Core CPU ?.

I may list mines (E8500) here instead of E-Gay, problem is I forget the VID and its now not in the PC but I think it was 1.125v (Coretemp only reads MAX, where Realtemp reads Min/Max)

Coretemp seems to read the new E8600 wrong as its 1.225v VID which is wrong as the CPU is 1.2v stock and the VID does not change as you clock like it should and does on my E8500 and E6850.

I'm hoping to swap my E6600 and some cash for an E8400, cant afford a anything over 80 quid and dont want to faf of selling the E6600 then buying another CPU, I'm hoping it'll go ahead but I dont know.

be sure to use Coretemp version .99.1 or .99.2 otherwise it will read your VID wrong.
