Rock Band 2 released in september!

Didn't buy Rock Band because of the price and the faulty hardware. If it wasn't for these reasons I would have bought it in an instant.

Haven't really heard much about this but I think Guitar Hero IV looks really promising, Everlong by Foo Fighters, custom music and very cool looking peripherals (particularly the drumset).

Can't wait to see more about both of them :)

If price is an issue for rockband then you wont be happy with guitar hero. The American RRP has been set higher than Rockbands.

All of these game types will suffer from some faulty equipment, GH will be no different, it just seems exagerrated due to people only going to find the forums to complain.

You could go into a store and make sure you get a QM drum kit. This forum hasnt been flooded with people moaning about the drums other than foot pedal and one lead footed northener ;)

Price isn't an issue if I know I don't have to buy another pedal and drum silencers because the hardware could be better. I like the look of the Guitar Hero IV drum kit more than Rock Bands so I'm just going to hold out and see what both of the new games are like.

I think EA should have done what Nintendo did with the Wii wrist straps for their drum silencers. They should have given them to people who already owned Rockband and bundled it with the new drumsets. But of course there was a way of making money so they had to jump at the chance I guess.

What faulty hardware? I don't think there have been many problems with the hardware after the Euro release, apart from fat people breaking their pedals :o

I keep reading problems with pedals and drums o_O I'm confused now.

I'm sooooo glad I waited lol.

I'm hoping the new kit will be cheaper. Even then I still think I might get GHWT guitar and drums.

But it's good stuff. Just hope GHWT instruments work with it.

Only problem I have with the drums is my inability to accurately hit the red :(

looking at the pads from an angle you can see the marks on the yellow and blue dead centre but the red is off to one side which leads to non registering hits and losing combo :(

Danny - Omega Twin Rocker :)

I have the same issue except mines green. If I look I can see myself hitting too low or flat. Dunno why :D

I looked at that omega pedal, its a lot of cash though. Or do you mean just using two Rockband cheap pedals? I dont think I could manage two :D

I was thinking on Wyrdo's advice of going for the roland FD8...

Still unsure really.

You guys with the missing hits on the drums, coin mod them. It really does make a difference and takes 2 minutes to do.

The pedal has snapped on quite a few kits and some people have had to return drum kits. But then again, it is a drum kit so it is going to take a pounding.

As for reading about problems, when GH2 was released on the 360 there was an outcry about the xplorer guitar being rank and faulty etc etc.

Look at the 360 also, although i do think they have increased the reliability a lot, but they wont ever shake their rep of being RRoD machines.

Got a decent link which shows you how it's done? I saw one on the Rock Band forums but it wasn't very informative and most people moaned it wasn't really worth it. Have you done yours and is it noticably better?

Duunno how I missed this....

RB2's tracklist and because they couldn't fit all the songs they wanted on the disc, 20 free downloadable master tracks!

Also by reading the article you can bring over not only your DLC from RB1 but also the disc tracks.

Great features imo.

That really is good news, especially being able to use the disc tracks from RB1. I know the set list isnt the best but I think this news makes it worth it.

IGN creature. Was in a interview I think. Like Psymonkee says about $5.

Not too sure I understand what you means about the disc install feature on the new dash. I think what you are hinting at is a feature within a feature.

Yeah but if the disc can be installed and the tracks can be read by either game in theory you should be able to avoid paying $5 :D

/cheapskate :p

As a PS3 owner, i'm in a bit of a quandry as to what to do now. I was going to import the first one at the beginning of the year, but decided to hold off as it "couldn't be that long before it's released in the UK". Yeah, right! :)

Anyway, my options as I see it are these:

  1. Buy GH:WT when it's released, get US RB/RB 2 solus editions.
  2. Import RB2 when it's released in US, import RB1 disc too to copy over all content, then just buy GHWT UK solus.
  3. Wait it out completely and just buy RB/RB2/GHWT when they're released in the UK.

I think Option 1/2 are the winners here, depending on what happens within the next few months, either one of these options will be the quickest/cheapest, I have a feeling that option 1 will be cheapest, option 2 will be quickest.

I quite like the idea of DLC being cheaper due to the weak $$, but it also irks me that I'll have to change from my usual profile to play this.. ah well.
