Me and the g/f are going to be heading to Bora Bora next year and I was just wondering if anyone has been there, or know anyone who's been?
The place looks like absolute Paradise and everything about it ticks all the boxes etc
Not booked it just yet but been shopping around and it's a little pricey but I think that's a good thing! Flights are not to bad, although takes ages and involves a sea plane at some point.
The overwater bungalow is what puts the cost up but hopefully will be worth it!
Here is a little image of the island which is located in the South Pacific Ocean

Any info or recommendations would be much appreciated :)

I believe in those huts your breakfast is brought to you and set on a glass table that stands over a hole in the floor. The table slides away so you can feed your leftovers to the fish :D

No, but I would love to go. but what is it 6k each?

this si why aI need to work my way up to manager so I can afford all these things.

Yeah it is expensive :\

I plan on going there on honeymoon... I just need to find a bride :p

Ya, lived in Rarotonga for 6 months and Tahiti for 3 months (Bora Bora is part of French polynesia).

The resort your linking isn't cheap but nice, you'll be both bored and pampered stupid.

3 things...

- be prepared to lose 6 days traveling and for jetlag, seriously
- the prop job from Papeete is scary unless you've done small props planes before
- bring mossie spray, lots

Enjoy.

Yeah your breakfast is brought to you by canoe :D !!
It is but not what I'd call outrageous, you can get the huts for about $800p/n I think (the best ones) but getting there is not cheap either, best I can find is $2k each :(
However I still think it will be worth it, and no problem with getting bored as there seems to be a lot to do and explore - plus it will be with my g/f ;)

Hi,
Thanks for that info :) it won't be TOO bad as we live in the states so it's a 8hour flight from L.A + the 2hr prop plane (which will be fine as do 2-4 seater planes myself)
Is the weather there really what they say, i.e. no seasons just 70's - 80's all year round?

Ah I forget we have our esteemed US friends here (dunno why as it's a UK techy site).

I few from LA, that part is fine, so forget the jetlag. The killer for me being Scottish was the 1hr from Glasgow to London, the 13hrs from London to LA, the 10hrs to Papeete and finally the prop job to bora, I couldn't see due to tiredness.

It's always warm, I spent dec to sept there and couldn't complain, google for the best times of the year. The amount of cash you're spending you may want to research. I know for a fact nov\dec the flights double in price, no clue why.

You see al lot of ******** advertising for holidays, but trust me, the south pacific is exactly what is looks like on the box. My parents spend every winter in Rarotonga (English speaking) and bora is even nicer.

Your girl will want to marry you if you're not already married, so be prepared.

Cool thanks, sounds as good as it looks!!
I have the g/f doing all the research for hotels & resorts etc, we shall also be going to several travel agents to see what packages are on offer.
Should be going in October '09 so maybe the flights will become a bit cheaper.
Thanks again

You have been warned, that area makes women go weird, even more weird than their usual pmt strangeness.

Get ready for the OCuk ovary punch (tm) if she starts with marriage talk.
