I would get an EK Full cover block for the graphics card - i'm currently having to sell my Dtec GFX block because my ram temps are 100+ degrees.

Do you have ramsinks on them? Full cover blocks are expensive and only good for the card they were built for. Get rid of the card and you need a new block. I have made that mistake before. Now i am using the same block on my 8800GT that i bought 3 years ago for a 7800GT. A core only block is also better at cooling than a full cover.

The VRM on the 4870 gets VERY hot:eek: If its not water cooled by a FC block, you need a good mosfet heatsink on it and A FAN;)

It is a snug fit so sometimes you don't need to use jubilee clips/cable ties. Also it means that there is a higher pressure and more turbulence or something like that.

Ofcause i have ramsinks on them - i too have owned a 8800GT - clocked at 760 - 1100 - 1900 and it's didn't run that hot. At 800 | 1100 my 4870 runs REALLY HOT.

why get a smaller tubing?

The smaller tubing provides a very snug fit - you will need to heat the tubing using boiling hot water to get it on the 1/2" barbs.

One piece of advice though : use clips with the PA120.2 or 120.3 rads - otherwise the tubing can get a little loose.

Just get a slow spinning fan and strap it underneath the card blowing over it, it makes the ram chips cool to the touch and will be virtually silent.

- good advice but i would rather just use the second loop as intended. now that i have gone water, i can't really see myself going back.
