Lips Xbox 360

it has no lyrics for your own songs, will be hard to beat Singstar TBH, for example it won't have the ability to upload videos and ratings from the user, something that Singstar on the PS3 does very well. Will be interesting to see what songs they do get though, will see how it progresss near launch

That seems very pointless. You may as well just play it on your hi-fi and sing along to that!

Sounds promising, but how will using your own songs work? Do you have to type the lyrics in or something?

There are some sites that will find lyrics for you though, perhaps it will use that. No DRM music though, so music say from iTunes wont work, unless they manage to get Apple etc to change the T&Cs for iTunes, probably not an issue for some people though. Its a bit different to how Singstar used to do the play your own song thing, as that just used to mute out the singing, this scans the song and works out the pitch etc so its more like one of its own songs.

See now that sounds good.

We were gonna buy Singstar for when we have friends over / party, but after showing this to the Mrs she decided to wait for this one.

Aye you can't use custom songs competitively i.e for points and some songs work a lot better than others.

It's still got potential however.

The iNiS developer said there was something else we haven't seen yet which is "big". To be fair I haven't seen any use of the motion control yet. But anyway, I wonder what this"big" thing is.

^ I had thought it will be some kind of action based dancing with the motion controls.

iNiS after all are the elite beat agents and gitaroo man devs so rythm things are their forte.

Oh yeah it was said that's what the motion was for. I just haven't seen any gameplay footage (camera viewing person) of it in action.

So this is out now, anyone played it?

Yup, I am loving it. Great fun with a few mates and drinks. The microphones are of a very high build quality. The selection of songs is pretty good and more songs seem to be appearing on live pretty regularly. I'm hoping that there will be a patch out soon that allows me to use the mic's with rock band though.

Supposidly there is a patch to allow that :)

Hopw does the "use your own song" system work then?

I haven't used it much yet to be honest, just a quick mess around really need to put some more vocal music on my xbox to try it out. But from what I have tried there are no lyrics it just monitors how well you have sung *i think*. I've only tried it the once, will try it out later on tonight and give you guys a better idea.
Oh yeah, when I added my own music it reports back to microsoft and tells them what you have added so they can gauge what people are wanting to sing along to and release the songs on live with lyrics.
I really want that patch!

"Microsoft and MTV Games are working together to ensure that consumers will be able to use the wireless mics from ‘Lips’ with ‘Rock Band 2’ after launch. More details on timing to come."
