Samsung Omnia I900 owners thread.

Orange have them available in their Shops had a little play with one today and I'm well impressed. Was the 16GB Version and free on a £45/Mth 18 Mth Contract

BTW how easy is it to unlock Orange Phones?

got home, connected to wifi and tested browsing - cant fault. Is a little slow loading all graphics sometimes but to be expected on mobile phone. once loaded its a nice experiance.

youtube videos streamed fine.

how can you ensure if it is connected over wi-fi or not as i dont want to rack up a huge bill lol

and how do you get the second homepage? the one without the widgets which most reviewers prefer as it is more 'direct'?

and has anyone updated their software?

I tried updating my software this morning very quickly but it came up with an error 'incorrect vesion' and didnt have time to find out what the beef was before i left.

There is a little widget which shows how and what you are connected to. I beleive it will use WiFi over data everytime but can someone confirm this?

To get the second homepage you go to start -> settings - > Today. At the moment I actually am getting on fine with the current homepage. The main complaints is that its not that functional - which I agree, but everything is accessable from it. For example the calander doenst show your next appointment but you are alerted of appointments anyway. Also one tap and it takes you to the planner. I think future updates will surely update this.

The widget for the player is cool.

Is the CPW O2 or even general O2 Omnia's 8GB or 16GB versions?

The Website is confusing saying up to 16GB but appear to be 8GB where as reports I have read are varied. I know Orange only do 16GB versions, but unsure on O2.

Does it have a capacative touchscreen (like the iPhone) or a resistive one (like every other WM device)?
What browser does it use?

Its resistive unfortunatly - Apprently they cant not use this as people in china still use the handwriting functionality which isnt as good on the cap screens.

I was really worried about the screen but so far so good. Its not quite as sensitive as the iphone however. The way I look at it, if it had an extra 15mm on the screen and an extra few hundred pixels resolution with a cap screen - this would be the best phone ever to have come out. The way you have to look at it though is you will never get a product which is perfect. Have to way up pros and cons and this phone has loads more pros than cons!

I have just bought a pair of these: http://www.mobileplace.co.uk/product/motorola-s9-retail.html - will be cool for gym. A2DP bluetooth headsets.

Does any one know the best software for GPS?

my first impressions are good. its very different to what im used to so i have to give it some time to get used to it

screen is okay, sometimes feels ever so slightly sluggish but im sure things will improve when i do the firmware update

as thought sasy, pros seem to outway the cons and ive only been using it for 10 mins

overall it seems nice and i think ill get along with it just fine

and yes, anyone know of any gps software ?

edit

thought let me know what you think of those headphones when they arrive
