Best 1000w PSU

What on earth do you have to require a 1000w PSU? Overkill much?

The ONLY reason i could understand is if you have quadSLI, which if your sig is right you dont have, why would you want to waste money on a PSU that big? its not like power usage is going to constantly go up at the rate it has been,

I thought that when I bought the 600w. Its fine for the present rig but I fear I will need more when I up grade this week. besides it does not come with 6 to 8 pin PCI-E converters - have you seen the price of them!!! It will continue happily in rig 2 which I shall build from spares. So I need another PSU anyway - might as well get some head room.

Power output isn't the limitation, it's the current on the 12v rail, I think my Enermax Liberty 620W is 36A, not sure if this is good enough for new cards now or in the future. Even though 620W is plenty for a gaming rig,

Power and Cooling PSU looks bad compared to the Corsair.

Yes, I would actually chose a PSU based on how it looks, but ONLY because the Corsair is already damn good. Runs at full load, within spec, when 10 degrees C over the rated temperature. What more do you want?

Are these Psu's modular?

Nope all solid wires, They dont believe in modular connections as it add resistance to the supply.

You don't need anywhere near 1000w with a single 280.
