TF2 Clan?

can you explain pickups?

If they're what I think they are, then I think they're the same as "mix games/matches(?)".They are like organised public matches, very similar environment to that of a private clan match.

Usually you get into an IRC channel (I used to use mix²luxe on the QuakeNet server). Basically you type in the command (I can't remember exactly, maybe it was .add?) and the bot assigns you all to teams. You then just connect to their TF2 server and their TS or Vent server and start playing!

Yes, pretty much.

You need to be registered before you can play. See this link.

Now for a brief summary. In the IRC channel you can type '!add' to add yourself to the next pickup. You can vote for the map as well (Goldrush & Dustbowl are rarely played, 5 CP maps are more popular for matches/pickups).

You are given the Ventrilo details and TF2 server details. You all join the server and talk together, get some teamwork on the go. It is always 6v6 on that particular channel and it's the most popular AFAIK.

It's a great way to get used to the 6v6 environment and the tactics of competitive TF2. It is so much more different from public and so much more fun. The player skill level is a lot better and you can get some really good games. As people have already said, it's best to start playing pickups before trying to start a clan if all you've played before is public.

Also good to check this which is a basic guide to #mpuktf2.pickup

Any questions give me a shout on Steam: fireforce0

My name in the pickup channel is 'fcuk-Turtles' and my name in game is 'fcuk: I Like Turtles'

Hope that helps. :)
