Why has the mpg and vpower garbage found its way back in?

Vpower because I like it when I see it in an ad, seems to show the owner hasn't just put any garbage in, taken care of it more...

mpg because I didn't expect a car like this to be so relatively frugal... I think of the 330 as being in a similar performance bracket to S2000/RX8/WRX/stretch the imagination to 350Z, I'd figured on 25mpg combined, but in reality I lost 1MPG going from my vRS to the 330, which suprised me, and I thought worth putting in the ad...

No? :p

But anyone looking to buy your car will have decided to get a 330. They dont need to know about the MPG. Running Shell 95 instead of VPower wont damage the engine... I think both are unrequired IMHO.

Dosen't it? I thought that running under the suggested Octane rating was bad and blew up import scoobies etc?

I thought you had a 330Ci not an import Scooby? The M54 is able to run on either 95 or 98 ron fuel. To obtain 231bhp you need 98 Ron fuel but it's quite happy on 95, with a marginally lower output.

My point was that I thought I'd read that Jap cars were supposed to run 100ron, and unless you fed it octane booster, it caused problems because our fuel was too low... I just figured the same would be true for 98ron cars running 95ron...

Import scoobies are designed to run on higher fuel only as that's what they have in Japan, plus being a turbo nutter car it's more sensitive to the quality of fuel. The mapping on these performance japanese cars is very sensitive to the quality of fuel used and is done to eek out every last drop of performance, whereas our mapping generally is done to let any old crap in the tank for the sacrifice of a few horsies :p

A relatively unstressed 6 pot in a uk bmw will be fine on anything you put in really.

A roads will also give you 30-35mpg.

hmm i suppose im forgettig that "normal" a roads around here are tight twisty NSL roads with lots of hills, im getting around 25mpg atm driving it considerately but not being scared of getting up to speed or overtaking

I usually get 350 miles to a tank of V-Power (~27mpg), of which 200+ miles are motorway/dual carriage way, cruising at up to 100 when clear, and not hanging around at other times... You can get 30-35, but you have to cruise casually to achieve it...

i usually get mid twenties but dont do a massive amount of motorway miles, and dont hang around all the time but i am driving calmer these days :p

I'm well aware of this. I asked a question and gave the reasoning behind my thinking.

I'm not sure I see the need to be so stand-offish?

I see your point, i think you just made the point badly.

Sorry, who are you?

I bow in the presence of your eloquence.

You saw the point I was making yet still felt the need to take a swipe? Unnecessarily obtuse. You can get away with that here when you're useful, not before.

Oh mighty Kingy i am sorry i did not bow before you and your numerous threads in which you dish out wise and well thought out advice.

and the swipe was taken first, and admittedly the rolleyes were meant to be this :p .

Who is being stand offish now?

Mighty? There's no superiority complex here, just curious as to why you felt your contribution was necessary, and what you were trying to achieve if not simply to provoke a response?

Apology accepted.

in all honesty your "point" in regards to import imprezas needing 100 ron fuel seemed a bit daft and if you must know i felt like highlighting this further, soon after i felt the need to offer some reassurance to you and that i was not having a dig, but merely having a bit of fun.

as i mentioned before this () was meant to be (:p)

Mighty? There's no superiority complex here

And of course there is or you wouldn't have said this.

Sorry, who are you?
