Would this annoy you?

Umm, question.

When your parents got married, wouldn't your new surname be whatever your fathers surname is? And then your mothers and step sisters surnames would change to your fathers surname? Or a hyphenation of the two?

Granted this isn't necessary and your mother and step sister can keep whatever name they want. Just curious.

They wanted me and my half sister "same mum" to have the same surname to keep the norm!

How could you not have known this? Surely you'd know the name of your sisters father if she had any contact with him, and if she didn't then what's the point? If your dad treated your sister as his own, then surely it would have made much more sense to change HER name than his and yours. It seems very weird to me.

I have been kept in the dark all this time, I found out today my sister has 1 half brother and 2 half sisters. She doesn't have any contact with them whats so ever or her dad. I'm not 100% sure but my dad changed his name to Millward because thats what was on my sister birth certificate as the fathers surname I'm not sure how they went about it.

That really makes no sense, so I'd be annoyed that my parents did something so stupid :p.

So to save confusion my dad changed his surname from wales to millward my mums surname taken from her previous marriage.

Very strange. So.. your dad willingly took another man's name, not to mention a man that his wife used to be with?

Strikes me as ODD.

No denying the dedication though!

Apologies about the break up btw.

I have grown up with another mans surname not my dads is that simple enough for you.

Um, you don't understand what I'm saying at all, do you? I think that your parents are idiots for keeping your mums previous married name when there was no need for your sister to have it (since she has no contact with the man).

why did your Dad change his sirname to be the same as his wife's ex-husbands?

weird.
