Sorry if they have been answered - but I didn't want to have to trawl through loads of threads.

1) Does the 4870X2 make use of Crossfire profiles or does it run like one GPU?

2) Does the 4870X2 get mega hot? How is it compared to the 280?

3) What's the microstutter like?

4) Is it worth sticking with a single GPU solution like the 280?

I'm sure that these questions will have been answered, but I've had some good news today and I'm not thinking particularly straight :)

1. runs crossfire profiles
2.yes it gets mega hot , 280 about 10degrees cooler
3.better but still there
4.Up to you, if you have a 30" monitor then go with 4870X2 otherwise maybe a gtx 280 is good enough

If you have the cash then it's 280 all the way really at 1920 x 1080/1200. (imo)

I agree but if you are wanting to add as much AA as you can at this resolution (CF 24xAA) then the X2 4870 is better equipped to handle the strain with more power. This would only be if you can spend without thinking I suppose. At 2560x1600 then it's the X2 4870 without a doubt. If the extra money would be better spent elsewhere then I'd even opt for the GTX 280 grudgingly @ 2560x1600 :).

Gordon Brown finally resigned? And then got run over?

I'm Scottish and I couldn't agree more. All politicians are muppets.
