S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky - Gone Gold

Hello there :)

I agree the oblivion lost mod makes it a new game ;), watching everyone running for cover when a blow out starts is realy funny :D, i got full lighting on and runs about 50+ fps in the open

Looking forward to the new one and glad blow outs are gonna be in it :)
 
Sounds like stealth has been reworked too... so it should actually be possible to sneak up on an enemy and knife them in the back without them turning around every gorram time! :rolleyes: Plus lots of sneaking about in the dark with no torch, bricking it each time you stumble across various objects in the zone… my excitement grows :D
 
Yeah, the OL mod re-introduces blowouts :cool: But Clear Sky also features "semi-random" blowouts (quoted from PCZone review)... whatever semi-random means :confused:

If dedicated fans managed to mod Shadow of Chernobyl to include blowouts, I don’t understand why GSC failed to make it work in the first place after years of development time…

Sheesh, you aint kidding! Never mind in the dark, jumped (literally) in my seat last night when a mutant (never saw them in vanilla Stalker) crept up on me!

Sooo digging this mod!

You missed out. Kind of!
They always had be on edge and always managed to make me jump by appearing out of nowhere slashing my face off.

I never got that far into it the first time I played it, my old rig couldn't handle it very well. Thought I'd dig it out and try it on my (relatively) new rig, when I read about the LO mod.

****** made me jump the more so, because in vanilla Stalker, it wasn't in that area!

If you haven't put the mod on yet, I do recommend it!

Publisher is Deep Silver. Most of their products use Starforce. Russian version is already confirmed as Starforce only (and out already even though release date is this Friday).

Also people have asked on the official forums if it uses Starforce but GSC keep ignoring the question which to me means I will wait and see what happens.
 
What's wrong with having a protection system? As long as it's implemented well, I'm all for it, long as it doesn't use up a million resources.

Nothing wrong with protection but Starforce has been known to destroy peoples optical drives leave rootkits even after uninstall & sometimes make your OS unuseable. This is why a lot of publishers dropped it about 2 years ago as it became obvious that it was causing issues, someone even tried a class action lawsuit as it installed this rootkit without user permissions or something. Just goggle starforce and you will see why some people are very cautious about it!!

I had an unbootable XP OS after installing Splinter Cell Chaos Theory & my optical drive also stopped working until I reinstalled the OS from scratch. Ubisoft even removed Starforce from Chaos Theory in the last patch.
 
I've recently got rid of my DVD RW drive on my main PC so such things aren't too worrying for me. Thank god for digital distribution and the ability to install windows via USB :)
 
Fair do's, would have thought they have updated by now if there are such widely known issues about the software.

Well, hopefully anyway.
 
The Oblivion Lost review above is spot on, its great. Stealth knifing works killed three bandits that way =P
