Fair enough it's a was VTS my friend had, handled quite nicely and was to be fair pretty nippy. But my god the interior was terrible and the metal felt like it was 0.1mm thick and would fold like a crisp packet.

So I hear you say whats this thread about, well if you take 1 saxo vts and add a deer into the mix and a sharp corner up west of scotland and add your mate who has only been driving a month well you end up with this unsurprisingly....

To clarifiy, small deer middle of road on a 60, he came round at 50 swerved to miss it and went over, yikes.

Why is someone that has only been driving for a month driving around in a quick 120bhp car? Sorry but asking for trouble. At least he lives.

its a fairly common starter car, cheap to buy... relatively cheap to insure in comparison to other similar cars and plenty of Halfords clip on parts available.

glad hes alright :)

look at the state of that thing, you would think it had been to war. lol

We all knew it was going to happen just a matter of time, as I said at least they lived.

To be honest the cabin is still in perfect shape. The only damage are the panels and the front end. It's done it's job keeping the occupants safe.

Actually the passenger side is a bit crushed in but not much. Still done well.

Hmm. It's sister car the 106GTI is at least group 13 if memory serves so it will be around the same surely. 13 isn't a cheap group for a new driver when I last looked.

So the actual thread title should be "This is why you never let a NOOB buy a fast first car".

Given that the saxo is, infact, a brilliant little car. Even if it does have a certain stigma attached. I'd have another one.

They are very nippy think, think he paid about 1100 for it, but luckily was paying insurance monthly and only paid 1 month lol. Think he will get to cancel that now.

The car drove very quickly and he hadnt put any halfords parts on it, the wheels where allready their, but he had just bought original vts wheels for it. Again he is lucky to be alive the crash tests on these where terrible. Lucky it was rolling on soft wet GRASS

Hate to say this but I don't think he'll be able to cancel

If it was a Fully Comp policy he wouldn't be able to but as it's Third Party I'm not sure

Glad he's OK though - looks like the car held up well

So this thread actually has not much to do with a new driver behind the wheel of a reasonably quick car then?

From what you describe, he was doing 50mph on a 60mph limit road, and swerved to miss a deer (which i'm assuming was pretty large).

Whats so Noob about that? You have 2 options really, hit it or swerve.

If he's paying monthly he should be able to cancel, if not after a couple of months (3 usually).
