Got my renewal notice through the post from elephant.co.uk the other day, and they were looking for £370 renewal for my 53 plate 1.8 mondeo mistral (policy only had breakdown cover and personal accident cover as extras).

Cheapest quote elsewhere was swiftcover, £335 (inc hire car cover, breakdown, protected no claims, legal cover

So armed with this I phoned up elephant.co.uk, said I wasn't too happy with the renewal price, a few minutes on hold and they came back with a price of £319 :D This included all policy extras including protected no claims, hire car cover, legal cover, breakdown cover and personal injury, and an increase of commuting miles to 16K as work will be relocating next year!

Just goes to show that a few minutes spent on the phone is worthwhile!
:D

Admiral quoted me £550 for a renewal. Ran my details through MoneySupermarket.com and it came back with admiral at £350. Phoned Admiral up and got the lower price without any of the hastle of setting up with a new company.

Oh and then I dumped my g/f and moved, which brought it down to £260.

I'm with elephant too. Always found them great TBH. I agree with you that checking around really helps... also, guaranteed percentage beating renewal deals are priceless! :D

Got my renewal of £355 so went of to first direct who guaranteed to beat my renewal by 10%.

Didn't need hire car cover so adjusted the total and asked if they could beat that. They dropped it to £294 which i was chuufed with so i phoned elephant back up and they happily matched it.

The saving means my 6 months road tax and years insurance basically comes to what my original renewal was if i had just let it process.

Car is a W reg Fiesta Zetec.

NICE! :)

I see your £50 and raise you the £250 I managed to save with Admiral with their renewal price vs the price they quoted me as a new customer on their website :D Phoned up and they matched it

My manager was complaining about her insurance and trying to haggle it down cheaper than £249 with all the extras thrown in. She spent about 4 days at work online and finding the best price and she is not short on cash..

Whereas I sit at work, waiting till I am 21 and filling in thousands on websites to see if anyone will actually quote me for under £2000 on the car I want! THAT makes me sad.

I also get grief from the guys working opposite, they say "Don't keep complaining, it's your own fault for having such a fast first car" - They know nothing about cars, he drives a brand new 1.4 corsa to avoid the 1600cc tax...and the other has a Golf mk 4 GTI 2.0....

And also "Why do you want one of them >Insert sporty unique car<, they are rubbish, get an Audi or a Fiat 500 or a mini they are cool". - Rolleyes

Lastly "What would you want a monaro for, all VXR's are chavs cars to be honest." - again, I nearly cried!
