Beijing 2008 Olympiad

Like anyone ever questioned him smashing the record :)

Stunning performance, gotta love his confidence :p

wheres the damn video of MJ watching this one and reacting to the finish :p

Thing is, i think due to the grimace and the time he posted, without a headwind it wouldn't have been that much faster. Maybe as MJ thought he hadn't worked on endurance as hard lately due to the 100m. Basically we all thought he'd break it, but he didn't break it by much and seemed to be putting in 100% effort to do so. Was it training for the 100m and too fast a first 100m in that race, or was it that MJ really was just ridiculously good when he set it. IMpressive either way.

What was MJ's best time in the 100m?

I don't think MJ ever raced the 100, I do recall them doing exhibition races over 150m between him and the 100m champion at the time.

Love to hear what his first 100m was for that race - could vaguely tell what hes capable of at full pelt for 100m...

He definitely put more effort into the 200m than the 100m even though hes a 200m specialist - just proves how good MJs record really was

ps3ud0

He won by 0.4sec, at the pace they finish at that works out at ~5m! 5m over a 200 meter race, if it was F1 that would be a win by 5 miles, maybe 3 laps. He's in a league of his own.

There we go, bbc finally showing his reaction to the race, not as good as the 100m :( Shame on you MJ, shame on you, you let us all down :p

Was MJ a 200 and 400 runner, for some reason I thought he was a 100/200 guy. Maybe thats why he wasn't "that" far ahead of MJ, the 400m giving Johnson a little more lastability in the race and Bolt maybe not showing the endurance in the 2nd 100m. Sure he can break both again before 2012, but he could save them and smash them both at 2012.

Donovan Bailey - the Canadian 100m champ of the time was his opponent, Johnson pulled out at about halfway with an injured quadricep although Bailey was leading - make of that what you will.

I wonder what odds you would have got before the 100m and 200m for him to break both records by 0.01s?

It wouldn't even load for me, keep crashing my browser, IE and FF !

You should have logged on 6 hours ago and left it running since then.

I've had problems logging on between 12 and 3 every day so I've jsut left it on from the moment I got to work.

Go Danvers for the Bronze in the 400m hurdles!
