Help choosing a graphics card

It has become apparent that I need to replace my graphics card.

I have a budget of around £200 could probably go sightly over that
The main candidates are :

Leadtek GeForce GTX 280 1024MB GDDR3

Leadtek GeForce 9800 GX2

Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5

I was just going to go nvidia as I have always used nvidia cards, but figure I should broaden my horizons.
So any recommendations or links to reviews so I can make an informed decision
 
Well the only card that is sub £200 is the ATI one and I think it will most likely be the best card for you. If you don't have big monitor you might even get away with a 4850 card.
 
Go for the 4870.

9800GX2 is a dodgy choice given the new generation of cards.

GTX280 is more than £200

4870 is jussst right /Goldilocks
 
Think you'll find most ppl will recommend the 4870 at that res although at £240 that Leadtek 280GTX is looking very tempting, if it drops much further even I, who has resolutely refused to upgrade for the sake of it, might start getting twitchy.

Out of interest, what card you running at the moment?

im in the same boat, to make it was i have an ocuk 10% off voucher and eligible for free del :/

I tell my self my 8800GT is fine, infact more than fine.

Tf2 doesnt need anymore i tell myself. But the 280GTX keeps looking at me..... :/

must have self control

When does the 10% run out? Might be worth lasting a few more weeks and seeing how low it can go.
 
4850 will even get by at that res. You may find in a year it struggles a little but you could always add another then.

GTX280 & 9800GX2 are wasted below 1920x1200 as they make less difference to the minimum FPS but once you add AA & higher resolutions their extra power kicks in (you may also need a new PSU for those 2 cards as they are power hungry but the 4850 needs a lot less).

Have just been gradually getting worse and worse performance in games, and am now at the stage where it cant even render any graphics in TF2, at first thought it might be the mobo, but a friend has lent me one of his 3800's and all the problems have magically gone away.
 
Well I just got a 4870 to go with my 22" widescreen still to install it though (*^^$£%^^"£^ wife) I was one of the lucky 10% off people though which swung it for me. Says the offer is valid till end of August subject to change though so I though wth I'll order now :)
