So.... am I to assume that I am not the only person whose next PC upgrade will coincide quite nicely with GTA4's release date? :D

There is no way my current rig will do it justice - I've been holding off on an upgrade for the last year but I think the time is finally approaching.

I take back everything I said about this being the same game with a better resolution and more AA and AF.

Rockstar easily made its point: GTA IV on PC looks ******* awesome.

Running at a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600, the game's PC port offers all sorts of visual enhancements over its console counterparts, from a further draw distance to up-rezzed textures.

Cannot wait! :D

i've always played gta on the pc just because of mouse/keyboard combo
but i've got a 360 recently and i don't know whether i can abstain for another 3 months

Well Rockstar itself said it will be released on November 18th, so i would take rockstars word over theres.

Yes and no, it comes the 18th in the US, the 21st in Europe...

anyways new info:

Gfx appear to have an update.
And on the Leipzig game convention they ran it @ 2560x1600...
Max players in mp will be upgraded but no further details.
Also something about a replay editor.

9 Screenshots on IGN of the pc version:

looks great, the draw distance isn't perfect, but it's so much better than the previous gta games.

Anyone read about or have any ideas on what the system requirements would be for this?

Looking for a kinda of "saftey zone" in terms of required hardware to make sure my PC is ready to go and kick GTA4 ass for many months upon release!

Another Article :)

I like this part ;)
If you dip into the grab-bag of graphics jargon, you'll find that Grand Theft Auto IV stacks up favorably, with up-rezzed textures, increased draw distances, and support for gratuitously high resolutions up to 2560x1600. Some subtle touches have also been applied to the multiplayer match filtering options: You'll now be able to search for games against a number of variables, including maps, weapons and game types.

Can't go wrong with an ATI 4850 or better surely!

Theoretically no, it is so much better than the gpu in the consoles, as I posted before they ran a demo on 2560x1600 with current hardware. However they are supposedly working on gfx upgrades for the pc versions.
Hopefully they'll do a job such as in SA. I mean SA needed something like a 6800 to run maxed, but it also run normally on lowest ( looked poor though) on a geforce 4 mx...

They should have had a replay feature in the console version. Sooo many funny moments that are just dying to be made into replays.

Looking at those screenshots released today I hope they do some more work as it still has those terrible fuzzy backgrounds. Perhaps it can be disabled on the PC version as the PS3 one gave me headaches as it was very hard on the eyes.
