Another NEW Playstation 3 announced this afternoon (160GB model).

Looks interesting, I found this very interesting too

One interesting feature of the keypad peripheral is a Touch Pad Button that allows the entire surface of the keyboard to be used as mouse pointer by sliding a finger over the surface of the keypad.

Wow, Sony really do suck at ergonomics.

Seriously, it would be far better to have the keyboard at the bottom of the controller so your thumbs are able to change between analog sticks and the keypad quicker/more comfortably.

Sony cannot design stuff at all, it's quite amazing, however the concept of the mouse pointer is brilliant.

The chatpad on the Xbox360 is one of the best peripherals I've ever used, but typing above the pad just won't work at all.

I'd guess it's the mouse pointer feature that's forcing them to put it at the top of the pad, would very awkward to hold and use as a pointer at the same time if the keys sat at the bottom of the pad.

That's just dumb.

Unless they do intend to sell PS2 games via PSN at some point, it would make much more sense to put BC back in, rather than putting a larger HDD in that a: people can already do cheaply/easily on their own b: doesn't enable you to do a single thing that you couldn't do with the 40gb model.

At £350 the price has gone up, would make more sense to raise the price putting in something that people actually care about.
True but, they are still selling the PS2 and it's making them shed loads of cash. Would be a shot in ones foot to offer BC again, not a good marketing decision imo.

That mouse pointer would just annoy me, I can imagine one day having shaky hands and missing links. (if using the web browser)

Then again, I would never use the PS3 web browser anyway.

Possibly, but I wouldn't have thought the people who are buying the PS2 this late care either way. But it could be said the lack of PS3 is costing Sony sales, I think that's far more likely (and of more concern).

For me, the only changes in price to the PS3 should be down, and if they have to increase it then it should only be for something that people actually care about.

maybe they should but bc in the ps3 and stop selling the ps2 then as it would make them more money

There are a people that want BC and would pay extra if they got what they wanted but the number of people who do want that are quite slim compared to everyone who will buy one. At least that would be my guess.

People want price drops, as someone said it is probably easier to bundle a 160gb hdd than a 40gb hdd these days as the 160gb I would imagine are far more common today.

All just what I think mind, I could be wrong.

So I dont need to use another remote just to use the ps3, when I already have one single remote that controls everything else

You can get an infra red dongle for a PS3, just get a cheap PS3 remote and have your super dooper all in one remote learn it. I like my blue tooth one its much better than "last gen" lol infrared.:D

Yea same, Bluetooth is a lot better, no need to be pointing it at things + 10 metre range. You could also get a dual Bluetooth & Infra-red universal remote.

You cannot power the ps3 on or off through the ir dongle.

I dont need to point my remote at anything either! It can turn stuff on through my duvet :p I dont think anyone makes a bluetooth and infra-red remote, certainly not a good one anyway.
