Hey guys,

I'm a student (apologies) and I was with dot mobile. They went bust due to the decent deals they were offering. Anyway they were leasing from vodafone who have now taken over the contracts. My bill has gone up more than 10% so I am able to cancel. I have just spoken with vodafone and have cancelled my contract.

This is the good bit. They have told me that I it will be cancelled on the 20th September unless I contact them and ask to be put back on.

The offer they have given me: £25 a month. unlimited texts (3000 limit) and 600 mins with stop the clock.

I said I will give it some time to think it over. (i'm really just looking for a beter deal and if not i'll go back to them)

So is there any deals out there better than this. I have an iPod touch which I love and I wouldn't mind an iPhone but i'd need to sell my touch to make the funds for paying for the iPhone contract.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I think i'm in a good position as if I can't find a better deal I can just take the vodafone. Sorry for length I just want to get the best deal possible)

Thanks
Joe

Ive just renewed my contract - and instead of 100% dicount on line rental (then adding my own bundles),
it worked out to drop my discount to 50%, i got 1000 texts 200mins and a SE C902 for £15 a month :D

How long would the contract be for?

Would you get a free phone?

its for 12 months no free phone. I asked for one but he said thats the best deal they can do.

Hey, sorry who is this with Vodafone? Sounds like a good deal.

Ok just been to a few shops in town to have a look about.

The iPhone is tempting. I was looking at the £35 a month contract but then i'd have to pay £99 for the 8gb iPhone. Might as well get it for free and pay £45 a month. Only costing me £20 more and you get more mins and texts.

So if i'm going with the iPhone whats my best bet - buying a new 3G one from o2. Or would it be a good idea to get a first generation one cheap and put a simplicity sim in it.

Would that work? I don't know much about phones tbh. But I now know i'm defo getting an iPhone.

Update:

Just had Vodafone's cancellation people on the phone. They offered me 500 anytime mins with stop the clock and 1000 texts for £19.99 a month with a samsung c902. (14 day cooling period if I want to swap phones or cancel contract) 18 month contract.

Is this a decent deal so you think?
