Publishers to fine 25,000 game pirates

Right. so a rapist gets locked up for 8 years, goes through rehab and whatnot, changes his ways.

Is he now not allowed to think that rape is wrong?

I can dislike piracy, regardless of whether I did it when I young and stupid or not.

Just so you know, I've literally paid for all the games I'd previously pirated.

did you pay for them when you were in rehab:confused:

They are making their money without running to the courts, their business model is working.

OK let me spell it out for you:

-You write a game in your bedroom, it takes you 3 months.

-You leave a big pile of 50 copies of this game outside your house with a note saying 'buy this game, £1 a copy"

-You come home to find all copies gone. But only 2 people have paid the £1.

But hey, never mind, you got £2, so the business model must be working right?

If you illegally download games you deserve to be taken to court or fined.

No excuses.

End of story.

I don't think anyone's being sent letters for downloading, only for sharing.

This analogy only works if the 48 people who took the game copied it and left the original. So you have £2 and 48 left to sell.

Unbelievable, you completely do not understand how this works do you? As I said, good or bad is completely subjective. Developers have the right to promote their product, how can it be a lie if is a matter of taste?

Ok, so do you think companies should release games that are obvviously not finished yet? That has nothing to do with good or bad games but it happens, that is what i meant about companies not being all shiny and pure.

Personally I would have thought that the real pirates would be on the side of damning piracy. Maybe you have some guilt that is eating away somewhere and that is why you feel so strongly about this topic :D

Hypocrisy?

i hope not, securom is beyond a joke
the quicker it dies the better

well EA, ubisoft and capcom seem to have embraced it so expect crysis warhead, spore, far cry 2 etc to all use it, the first two are all but confirmed to use it. nothing wrong with it imo

Does it interfere with disc burning software or virtual drives?

You do realise that you are confessing to piracy?

If I got £50 pounds the business model would still not be work considering it was 3 months work. Papperboy would be doing better than that.

What games are unfinished? I've never bought one, probably because I use the review system. Every game I have ever bought, even the ones I was not astonished by, I have had no problem parting cash for because that's how it works.

It's not so much theft that drives this hatred of mine, it's ignorance by justification.

Wow! You really know how to cut to the core of me. Actually I used to pirate, when I was young and stupid. I used all of the excuses that the plebs in this thread are using and I actually believed them. I have since grown up, I now understand how consumer society is supposed to work.

they physical quantity of games is irrelevant, the 'pile of games' represents downloads. What is important is the amount of revenue that has been missed out on - the games should have bought in £50, but only bought in £2, which was my main point.

I don't think anyone's being sent letters for downloading, only for sharing.

Thats an interesting point. AFAIK They arent going after people who are illegally downloading.

They are going after the ones who share the love/pain with everyone else.

So if you do download but are a mean, selfish ******* who doesnt upload/share then you're fine :D
