Hi

Installed Tuniq Tower this afternoon on my Q6600. These temps look ok ?

Temps Using Core Temp 0.992
CPU @ 3.2GHZ (360x9)
Idle Temps: 44C
Gaming Temps (COD4 Everything Maxed): 56C (avg)

Temps Using Asus Ai Suite
CPU @ 3.2GHZ (360x9)
Idle Temps: 34C
Load Temps(COD4 Everything Maxed): 46C (avg)

Not sure which is more accurate , id like to think the Asus utility is ?

Cheers
M

They are both acurate but reading different sensors :)

The cpu reading from asus probe is from the socket, where as coretemp is reading from the cores of the CPU..

you want to download prime95 and see what temps you get under some real load :) its the core temps that you are concerned with and you want to keep them under 75c in prime load

Hey

Thanks . I ran prime for about 40 minutes and the coretemp stayed around 55C but I dont think that was at 100% load . Not sure .

I know with the stock cooler, the temps used to hit the high 70's . Just not sure what to expect from the Tuniq. I used the thermal paste that came with it (couldnt find my tube of artic silver) and i cleaned up the CPU until it was spotless.

The base of the Tuniq looked fine with no markings etc.

I might run Prime95 again tonight and see what it hits . What is the best test to select ?

Thanks
M

you want to run small ffts

what board you using?

An Asus PK5 . The Tuniq fits it no problems btw for anyone else looking to get this cooler. It was really easy . Although not sure I have tightened it enough but I assume I have .

What he said! :)

I wouldn't be happy with 44°C Idle - 56°C Load running at stock speeds, its not dangerous at all but you should be getting lower temps for your money spent on a premium 3rd party heatsink. Maybe it will improve in a few days!

Hi

Thanks . Its not running at stock speeds though :)

Its a Q6600 2.4GHZ overclocked to 3.2GHZ

Would just be interested what other overclocked Q6600 owners are getting with the Tuniq.

Cheers

I think his @ 3.2ghz.. which loads are a little high perhaps depending on the vcore needed.. as you say though probably a few degree's to come off once the paste beds in

The thread i linked has links to every other useful thread for your Motherboard and CPU :)

my Q6600.
Post up some screenies pls from CPU-z, I wanna see how much vCore your CPU is getting?

These are some pix from an upgrade I did for a mate last xmas on his P965 system, only Q6600 I've used but it overclocked to 3400MHz without too much effort (nice 24/7 clock) cooled by a lapped TRU and some Sharkoon SE 2000's

Its idle . I think I have stepping on so it drops back the multiplier .. to 6 X

Yeh its set to 1.55v in the BIOS . AFAIK those boards , the voltage reading in the BIOS is out by 0.1V ... someone correct me if I am wrong though .. more than likely I am . So 1.55v = 1.44V
