Was I Imagining It? (360 pad via play&charge + Windows)

I swear when I first had my 360 with the play and charge kit I was able to use it via the play&charge in Windows.

I can't for the life of me get it to work now...

Given the cable carries no data what so ever, this is most likely.

Yeah it seems that way. In Vista it doesn't pick the device up, but in XP it installs the device as 360 pad via play and charge kit. However it does not show up in the controllers menu in Control Panel.

it shows up in my vista install as a play and charge kit, cant do anything else with it though.

As said, it will pick up that a USB device has been connected, however the cable only carries power so it's never going to work.
