...for having an 'Inappopriate Username' - i've asked them to please elaborate, i'm using my nickname i've had since school and i'm now 42. (it's also my ocuk nickname).

it's never happened before, the nickname is kind of a shortening of my name. i still know the kid from school who first started calling it me, his nicknames buzzer.
i'd better give him a call and see if he can come up with something better.

It sounds similar to a word that historically has been used derogatively within the realm of racial discrimination etc.
People who don't know you will instantly see that instead of "Oh, its short for..... ?"

I think you just have to look at what people could think you are trying to say in your name. I mean regardless of what it stands for to you it could always offend others. A risk you take with any nickname, username or online handle. Just create a new one I would say and continue to use it on another sites that don’t have these policies not the end of the work.

What uni are you in?

The GO's will not unban you so 'id just take it on the chin and quit

People take offense at some fairly minor things. Of course you can see why it's a problem though.

A friend of mine was once asked to change his user name for a CS clan. It was 'Summer Bed Linen'.

And of course you have to feel for the people of Scunthorpe, who could't sign up for an AOL account using their real addresses because it wouldn't get past their swear filter. Many more will wish they hit such an obsticle...

hang on a sec, a gypo and a negger posting in the same thred, what is the world comming too.

i guess it's like th fcuk logo - except that never got banned.
