e6300 @ 2.33 high temps

Seems a bit high for 2.33Ghz. Is it a new install? Would be looking to reseat the HSF myself.

No it's not a new install

I'll have to reseat at those temps, I've dropped it back to 1.87ghz for now :/

I have all my voltage settings to auto so maybe the P5N-e SLI is overvolting to compensate?

I'd set you're cpu voltage manually to the default, my 6300 is 1.325v.

you running the supplied cooler or 3rd party one ?

mine sits at 3GHz 40'c on idle
55'c at 100% load

thats using a thermaltake v1 cooler

both chip and cooler are lapped

i would consider reseating it
what cooler are you running?

You can set the CPU voltage to 1.35 manually, that should take you to to a 3GHz+ clock speed on the E6300 without too much of a heat increase. With a decent cooler, I'd expect it to hit 50's max under load and idle around the mid-high 30's.
