Ok as title says, this system i'm building for a friend. His main use for it will be gaming, so every bit of fps and power will help.

Thing thats he'll be needing are: -

CPU, Mobo, RAM, GPU, PSU and Case ( doesn't have to be expesive this ).

So far I've come up with the following: -

This is minus the case and I could also change the GPU for an Nvidia brand as i've been reading up about the microstutter problems on the 4870x2.

Will the PSU be enough to handle these new highend GPUs?

Cheers

If gaming is the sole purpose then I'd replace the Q9550 with a higher clocked dual core, namely the E8500/E8600. Otherwise looks like hes going to be having a lot of fun :)

i agree i would have a e8500 and swap the 4870x2 for a gtx280 more for your money at the mo. The BFG on offer this week looks good

Agreed with swapping the quad out for a E8400 or higher...and definitely recommend the Antec 300 case for the price its brill.

the psu will have enough power and in the BFG box there is an adapter for an 8pin incase the psu doesnt have the right plug
