*** Official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Thread***

It'll change. Late last night I (WH) was with a BW and two RP (admittedly not the ideal setup) wandering around, and we had loads of clashes with small groups - lots more fun than zerging, and once people start getting bored of it, there should be lots more small group RvR to be found.

Indeed it will, Daocs early days was all zerging, took a while for people to get out of the habit, but they did eventually and then things were a lot more strategic.
 
Zergs were what seperated the men from the boys, I remember a 30 minute fight in odins on my SI savage farming a total of about 7-8 FG's. Not all at once like, but we had no rest between. Started with a FG coming out of ATK, then another FG, followed by 2, then 2 more and about a FG+ of stealther when we finished them near AMG.

Fun times :D
 
Well, i shall look forward to my 1st ever online game where i have never played anything of it before launch day...

Hope its better than AoC!

Idd :D More seriously, what im trying to say is I hope skill and team play make the difference in WAR like they did in daoc. MMO's dont require 'skill', they're not hard to play by any length, but in daoc a little prethought, a balanced group, and team play with ppl you know over vent made it a) fun, oh so fun. b) easy to farm pugs and less prepared groups.

Compare that to wow, where it takes an age to kill someones and an age to heal and the game becomes really slow and the need for 'skill' disappears, its just a game of gear wins over ability. I wanna see 3x light tank assist trains again and 1.3s heals that take u from 0-100% in 2 casts :D

I'm sure that WAR will initially be masses of people running about like headless chickens, much as it was in the early days of Daoc :) , but just as it did with Daoc I think WAR will settle down into the kinds of teamplay you are talking about there.

However, you wont be seeing 1.3s heals that take u from 0-100% in 2 casts :)

Currently in beta we haven't got much choice of settings - just fastest frame rate, balanced, and highest quality (which still has a lowish draw distance and low/medium textures). I play with AA AF forced through the nvidia control panel. In zergs worse than that it runs as smooth as silk on my system - although this isn't the case for everyone. I'll check the framerate later with fraps - but I don't get as much as a stutter so i'm guessing its fairly high. I sold my friend my old 8800gtx and that made it smooth for him in such situations.
The release client should be a lot light (debugging software gone) so should see a performance increase for everyone.

Exactly, im starting to have faith in this game to justify me purchasing it, i just hope its not a letdown as Conan was. I was a big PVP freak in Warcraft got to rank 13 during the old PVP days so making RvR a big element in Warhammer makes it sound a lot better!

Apparently the CE edition will be available to pre-order.

I need to decide my class badly and at this rate im going to have no time to work it out in Beta. Still think DoK or Zealot but I cant make my mind up for sure without testing abit.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm literally close to throwing my Pre order box at someone.

So unfair that the US get a preview weekend.

Also I'm torn between Dark Elf Sorcerer( male ) or Deciple of Khaine.

I was going to go Chaos Chosen but there seems to be a massive influx of them.
 
I'm either going to go with Male Sorc or a Witch Elf - altho the more I watch the shammy videos they look very cool. Wish there was a male witch elf, stupid lore crap.
