How often should coolant be replaced?

Mines been in there since I bought my kit about 2 yrs ago, its not overheating,

Only thing I can see the blue dye has gone. the levels are ok. Temops r ok.

and whats a good replacement if I should replace it? F1 stuff ok?

Yearly - but less of an issue with a all copper or all aluminum system, and tubing is not in daylight.

You may be surprised by how much gunk is now in your loop (especially rads)
as for F1 - use antifreeze (which is blue anyway) and de-ionised and save a few quid

wow, how would one go about cleaning a year's worth of gunk?

Be careful if trying antiifreeze, I remember reading somewhere it can cause problems with some plastics like acrylic.

Personally I used to use halfords engine coolant condition in my loop, did the job and I was using an alu and copper loop.

i dont buy into changing coolent for closed loops - the water in my koolance atm has been in there since they day they first brought the new blue coolant to uk (5 years or so). gets topped up with tap water every year or so...
