Tried a £70 HDMI cable

Stanleh - im sorry of you found my comment negative. Its great that you have been able to improve the quality of your viewing through a cable upgrade. I think if people see benefits from upgrading a cable, then it can only be good for them.

(However, i would say £1800 is a bit much...)

Chrissy it was not your comment I was referring too, I also agree £1800 for a cable is a bit bonkers, but if you have a 500k setup then what’s £1800 on a cable.

I got the £300 version which I would not have bought if it was not for the fact i got it in a sale for £120 and could return it if not happy with the improvement.

There is no hope for you.

Of course how silly me of me, its clearly a placebo effect IN A BLIND TEST !!!!

Clearly you all have your opinions already formed and nothing will change these, how dare I post my opinions I deserve to get mocked.

Last time I post on these forums as they are no headfi or avforums.....

ah yes - the blind test. how exactly does that eliminate the placebo affect? Do you (20 years or whatever in hi-fi) really need me to explain to you the flaws in a single blind test?

Yes, my opinions are massively flawed, because i haven't seen an HDMI cable on a £500,000 Russell gimp mains cable and whatever else should be connected to it.

I must apologise for using reason and logic in deciding upon what cables to buy.

Wow I have never before seen such a openly hostile forum as we have here, disagree with me that’s fine however don't treat people like scum or complete morons just because they disagree with you.

I wonder at how these forums get any new members if every section welcomes people as you do me.

I won't be posting here again and I am sorry that some of you need to make it so personal just to get your point across.

Not everyone here was hostile some just honestly enquiring about something and to you I say try other forums like headfi where you will find less biased hostile forums, where some one is not a idiot or a sucker just for having a different experience.

Goodbye

When someone comes along and posts a gigantic amount of rubbish how do you expect people to react?
You are just so wrong that it isn't even worth pointing it all out. Sorry if that hurts your feelings. :/

I dunno how about this for a novel idea, you politely tell them they are mistaken and then try to educate them, not just look down your nose at them because you think they are wrong.

Now I am going to go and try and get some sleep so there will be no more replies when people once again insult me.

Good bye the rest of the forum I am sorry you have to put up with these elitist attitudes for your passion.

I wish to God that this is a troll account, but I rather fear that it is not. The funny thing is that we're the biased elitists, but not the people at headfi... Uh...

You started posting the ridiculous tantrum "I'm not posting here" "different people to avforums" rubbish, so don't yell at us :)

Anyway, there's a thread exactly like this on AVforums too ;)

Besides we're hardly hostile, we just can't be bothered to go through and dispute your post, as I said earlier. But note I also said that if I'm happy and you're happy, that's all that matters :)

Had my Pioneer PDPLX5090 professionally calibrated by Greyscale Solutions, the guy that came and calibrated it brought a range of cables with him, and I was basically using whatever came free or what I'd bought for pennies off the bay.

I asked if he wanted to use his own HDMI cables for calibration, he said no mine would be fine.

Speaks volumes to me.

And here is someone not insulting anyone about cables and actually posting what a pr0 has said to them.

I have been guven the same advice and pr0 > hi-fi geek who reads a lot of internet. I used to think the internet taught me all, but honestly the pr0s in the business understand this a lot more than any of us.

Forget silly HDMI and mains cable and instead spend your money on getting your tv ISF calibrated. It's certainly what Im getting done to me 5090 and will produce a massive difference.

Stanleh on avforums there are even more knowledgable people that will put across their points to rubbish the expensive HDMI and mains cable options, we are just far more abrupt on here as it is a chore even trying to explain it.

It wasnt always like this.

Its only fairly recently on here you could say all HDMI cables are equal without the majority of forumites starting to foam at the mouth and argue otherwise.

This isn't a case of disagreeing or opinions, you are out and out plain wrong. Expect the same treatment anywhere that doesn't have sycophantic onanists circle jerking each other to convince themselves they didn't just get fleeced spending hundreds on an HDMI cable.
