Hi,

I've just installed an Abit IP35 Pro motherboard, and I'm getting this screen on startup...

I've got a SATA disk connected to SATA1 on the MB, and an IDE DVD/RW attached as a master on the one IDE connection, so obviously I don't want RAID.

Any idea how to turn off this annoying prompt?

You have your DVD drive connected to the JMicron controller via IDE so you can't get rid of that. If you were to disable the JMicron controller in the BIOS your DVD drive would not be detected.

Well that's just pants... The MB has only one IDE socket, and it's designed (according to the manual) to connect IDE optical devices (there's even a diagram explaining that) - why the hell is a the RAID driver necessary?

A RAID driver isn't necessary. That's just the JMicron screen, and can be by-passed by pressing Esc as soon as it appears.

Buy a sata dvd drive.

Looks that way..

TBH - I've got a Plextor SATA DVD drive that died about a year ago - got a feeling it was dust contamination that killed it - would not burn - kept on getting errors.

I think it's got a life time guarantee so may well dig that out and see if I can get it repaired.

why get it repaired, you can buy a good DVD burner for about £15 - £20. and the plextors are about £50, yes some sites still selling them.
