Look, i am an Nvidia fan. Please don't stone me!!! lol

I am after a new Graphics card. I currently have a 8600GT 512mb PCI-e card and want to upgrade a bit.

My budget is low, approx £70 -£80. What would you suggest? Please don't mention ATI unless you can know you can really persuade me to jump ship and swim to the other boat!!

I do game on my PC. Screen is a 19" TFT (Not widescreen)

theres a 8800GT in your price bracket in This Week Only offers, or take a look in the B-Grade section - might still be bargain there.

For around the £100 area I would have to say that ATI offers the best bang for your buck. Although you would have to shell out just under £120 for a 4850, it would be a decent jump in performance over your other option, an £80 8800GT (in my opinion).

Unless you really cant stretch for a HD4850 i would say get an 8800gt, the 48xx series are excellent for their prices and the 4850 has a good lead on the 8800gtx at that res.

What about a 3870? They can be had for your budget! Would be perfect if you can't stretch to a 4850.

me personally - i've just jumped for a 4850 (£111 delivered). it will replace my mighty 2400XT :D

i know right? total waste of money :)

seriously though, i have 2 PCs and the 2400XT is being moved to my 2nd since that has an old 6800GT which doesnt handle dual link DVI at all and the 2400XT can do it no problem.

Edit: The point of the thread passed me by. Saw the 4850 recommendations without seeing the original budget requirements.

No point recommending the 9800gtx+. Go for the 8800.

the hell with crysis no1 should have ever bought that game.

Agreed, im still wondering why thats the only game everyone plays, everyone is buying £600+ gfx cards to play one bloody game that still won't run well, utter madness.

Just forget about it, theres millions of other games out there to be enjoyed, its not the only one.
