Land Before Time 2 when his mum dies, I was only about 8 when I saw it at the cinema and it traumatised me it was that heart-breaking at the time. Still does now too

Really?

I seen a little bit of this on the movie channels once and it really didn't look up to much.

edit:
Just wiki'd it. Seems it's had very positive reviews. Might give it a shot.

Well worth the watch.

I weep whenever I see a good film remade due to a lack of imagination cf Taxi, The Italian Job, Get Carter et al.

Of the films on that list that I've watched I don't recall any of them making me cry although I've got to admit Fearless (Huo Yuan Jia) somehow almost always gets me close to tears in the final couple of scenes. It's a martial arts film for crying out loud, something is not right with that.

Grave of the fireflies is a definate +100 there. I dont even want to watch it again cause its so powerful.
Edward scissorhands, when they have to part company towards the end,..
As for tv series. The very last episode of Last Exile always choke me up, when they are destroying the ship but hear the commander inside it... Gah, Man-bane this stuff.

Thinking about it now, maybe the film that affected me the most and i've never been able to watch again is Savior. This film was one of those that hit me out of the blue. I remember renting it thinking it was just another war film, was going through a bit of a war movie kick at the time, it starred Dennis Quaid so never expected anything too amazing.

The movie is based during the bosnian conflict from the point of view of a guy who has run off to join the foreign legion after a revenge attack on a mosque following his wife being killed in a terrorist bombing. Now, the first 15 minutes is pretty hard going in itself but when you finally start to see the atrocities commited during this war...well, i was a gibbering wreck. It made me cry so hard during and maybe for 20-30 minutes after.

I would recommend people watch it so they can get a little education on what happened during the bosnian conflict, i've found upon talking to people in the years since that the knowledge of what went on in these years is sadly lacking a little. I'll put my hands up and say that I was pretty ignorant to it all until this film opened my eyes a little.

There is one anime that gets me at the end, Gungrave. Its an amazing story which takes a while to develop but the end is just perfect. So, so sad!

I first watched this on Channel five around the time the channel had just started. It's not completely factually correct but the sheer story drew me in. The ending.. bloody hell...I was holding my breath. :(

I would add Man on Fire to the list.
