The more I eat,the hungrier I get?

cows aside, would there be the same amount of pigs, hens, sheep, and other animals that are slaughtered for food if everyone was vegetarian. and not as many cows would be killed if there wasn't a demand for beef. and actually we don't have any leather in our house at all :P

They just wouldn't be born, if no one ate eggs, no one would keep chickens, they'd go from one of the most populous birds on the planet to almost extinct.

As for pigs, no one would keep them either (except for a very small number as pets)

Having just gone and red the rest of this topic ive realised that the people 'preaching' about being vegetarian are only doing so becuase of the amount of people telling you to eat meat. I have no problem with people choices as long as they dont try to ompose them on me :).

What i will say is no one is going to win this arguement so id there really any point to it?

Post count :p

Well, that depends really, well cared for livestock is better for the animal than the alternative, which is not existing. If we didn't eat meat or use other animal products, huge numbers of animals simply wouldn't exist. No-one would really keep cows, sheep, pigs, chickens etc if they weren't providing useful products, certainly not in the number that are kept now.

So no life versus a good life with a planned death (note I'm not talking about battery or intesive farming processes here)... Which is better?

Well that's a very strange question and quite simply, it cannot be answered. How can you ask which is better for the animal when in one case, there IS no animal? I mean it's like comparing a number, say 5, with nothing (Not 0 but nothing) then asking, which is the bigger number? It just doesn't make sense.

And of course there's still the issue of whether or not you believe we have the right to farm and kill animals unecessarily.

Sure you can.

Would you rather you weren't born?

Makes me wonder why no one argues if we have a right to farm and kill vegetables unecessarily, they live and breath you know...

IMO its pathetic to be vegetarian, no matter how many people are vegetarian cows, sheep, chicken etc.. is going to keep been slaughtered.

So? They don't believe in it, so they don't take part in it or support it. It's as simple as that. Just because it's going to continue happening (And it's NOT inevitable that it's going to continue happening forever) that's no reason to not live by your beliefs, and to not even try to make a change. Can you imagine what a state the world would be in if everyone had that mentality?

Its not like vegetarians dont like meat.

just also cant see a single person not liking the taste of every single type of meat from every single animal out there, just does not seem realistic to me and I highly doubt every person out there who claims to be a veggie does indeed hate all meat.

Whether or not they like the taste of meat has nothing to do with it, so I have no idea why you keep bringing this up. The only case where it might be relevant is where someone might be considered a vegetarian because they don't eat meat due to not liking the taste, and for no other reason, which is extremely rare.

But in my opinion I find it silly to be vegetarian, if you are fine with the way its been killed, which everyone should be compared to how it was done thousands of years back...

Why does that mean they should be fine with it? WHY? That doesn't make SENSE.

I've not got the slightest problem with you having an opinion but I'm less than convinced by some of your arguments in favour of that opinion. Still c'est la vie.

Sure you can.

How are you going to measure the answer to the question? If I had not been born would I know about it?

Makes me wonder why no one argues if we have a right to farm and kill vegetables unecessarily, they live and breath you know...

In a fashion yes they do. However, could you say that vegetables are sentient?

If someone is happy the way animals is been killed as there is nothing wrong with it and dont mind the taste of meat, why be vegetarian in the first place?

Well obviously that's the point, they're not happy with it (amongst other reasons), THAT'S WHY THEY ARE VEGETARIAN DUH.

Even if they are happy with it there's a multitude of other reasons why they may be vegetarian.

So how do you propose animals be killed?

Uhh, what? What has that got to do with anything?

*Facepalm* Please just stop, you're not making any sense.

I'm making perfect sense.

How the hell do you propose meat be killed? Are you happy with the way they are killed if not, how should they be.

There must be some reason why people are vegetarian, if meat is killed the way the dont mind, then dont see why else they would be. Its not like every one hates meat.
