Can't really afford to pay these contracts at the moment, so going to get the £20 a month 02 Simplicity deal with 600mins, 1k txts and unlimited data while the offer is on. Then jump into a contract when i see one.

Anyway, i have a very old samsung x600 at the moment. Time for an upgrade i think!

Whats the best phone for texting and browsing internet? Must be cheap!

Got my eye on a Blue u600 for £69 from CPW.

The U600 is a nice phone, ive just got rid of mine. However, its very slow to access any memory cards you insert, and I mean very slow, probably a good 10 seconds to access a song.

Very simple and easy to use phone, and the touch button keys are nice and responsive. As for internet browsing ive only used an HTC Diamond to compare it with, so its a bit of an unfair comparison really. Its alright, can be a bit of a fanny on with large, fiddy websites such as the odeon, but for browsing places like OcUK and checking mails its fine.

For £69 its a really really good phone, seems pretty well built, mines had a hammering over the last 18 months and its still fine.

Yes, it is only GPRS, and isnt 3G capable. Its useable, by no means fast but its definately usable. The majority of the time my Diamond is only on GPRS and whilst it is slower noticably then 3G, its just something you live with.

Might be worth a look at the Sony Erricson K800i, not sure how much they go for, but they are a bloody good handset adn I would definately recommend it over a U600.

My last phone was a K810i, loved it. Died on me though after about a year :(

Ill check the bay for some k800's.

Can the U600 check how many txts you have sent, like the k800's. I'd need to keep track for when i take out simplicity with 02.

Compared to the htc, how bad is the browsing exp in terms of screen size? I have a 6300 and the size is pants. (OP don't go for the 6300. Battery life is pretty shocking too.)

It only really bad when their are a lot of stupid links on the page, as to move down you first have to get past the links, so somewhere like wikipedia that has a url link on every line is a pain to navigate. The comparison to the diamond is pretty unfair, as the diamond runs on Opera, and will resize paragraphs of text to fit on the screen to avoid horozontal scrolling, and has a stylus for quick movement around pages. As for the unit itself, the screen size is fine for me, but I have good eyes adn can read small text quite easily, whereas others have complained its too hard to read.
