Porn virus help please lol.

Wouldn't IE7 with UAC enabled so that protected mode is working be safer? As far as I know IE7 on Vista in protected mode is basically sandboxed?

Yes, but he's on xp. ;)

You can sandbox programs on xp though by using a program like sandboxie, it does the same thing as protected mode.

The next best thing though is firefox with noscript and spybots registry protection.

If I get a virus etc, I do tend to backup, format/restore just to be safe (if I've not done it for a few months)

So, porn is damaging to your sight.... and your PC!!!

Heh...

Sounds like a Vundo infection. They can be very tricky to remove, even with Nod 32 spybot and Vundo fix. Sometimes you need to format or get pro help from one of the removal sites.

I just fixed my problem: downloaded malwarebytes anti malware, ran the full system scan, took 150 mins but did the job, now my pc is trojan free!
Ps: I didn't get the virus looking at porn...

ll I can say is the only real way to get rid of this stuff is format really.

What a load of tosh.

In the last couple of years I've done at least 10 PC's with this kind of stuff on and none have come back.

They usually write a few files into your Program files somewhere and into your windows folder.
The best way to look for them is with a program that can show you what startups when you boot windows eg STARTER.
What you now need to do is look for that program thats causing the problem and delete it from from the hard drive and from the RUN commands in REGEDIT.

My dad has that rubbish on his pc, tried running hitmanpro but it locked up .
Anyone know how to fix it properly ?

Err, post #34

Ctrl alt del doesn't work, apparently it's disabled :p.
And when I try to enable it in computermanagement it says you do not have the rights for this ( even though it's an admin account).
Deleting it from the hard drive doesn't work as it says the program is in use and I have no way of terminating a process... It's in system32...

Where should I look in regedit ?

Where should I look in regedit ?

Download STARTER, you don't even need to install it.
In fact its here - Starter

Look for something you don't recognise in STARTUP and you can search for it on Google which should give you some idea.

Lets pretend this is the offender - C:\Program Files\RSSoft\RedSwoosh.exe

Look where that EXE is but you might not be able to delete it yet.
Deleting it from STARTER might not work but you could try.

Reboot into SAFE MODE and go and delete the file.

Reboot to windows, go into STARTER and see if its running again.

If it is go into REGEDIT and do a search an dyou will find it in a RUN folder.
Delete it.

Reboot into SAFE MODE and look for the file again.
