Dog Dies While Cop Detains Owner

No cause I'd have called a ****ing ambulance.

If it was an animal I'd try and get it to a vets/ a vet come to me, but i wouldn;t risk my life or anyone elses to do it.

Oh god. Right, so I have to explain this simple concept that you should have picked up on. I'm just theorizing here, to make a point, so just assume the same circumstances, ok? Can you get your itty bitty mind around that? And now if necessary, replace the dog with something or someone you love and care for deeply. Now I ask you, would you not be in a similar emotional state as the man in the video? And would you not be in distress at the police officers complete indifference to your situation and the dying life of the thing you love, which you are desperately trying to save?

If it's a dying person I doubt the officer will be uncaring and more calling an ambulance, back up and driving said eprson to the hospital.

If it's an animal yes i'd be in a state, and in both cases i wouldn't be in this retarded situation as i either

a)wouldn't be driving

b)be following the speed limit.

Are you a girl?

...because driving at the speed limit means you are driving safely, obviously.

So what's this magical emotional state in humans you talk about? It's no different. It's just balances of chemicals in the brain, just like in animals, although more complex, which is to be expected since our brains are more complex.

Sentience makes it different. We can name and shape our emotions in ways other animals can not. We are the only species that goes out of it's way to make itself scared or unhappy as entertainment for example. This is pretty easy stuff that I wonder why people find it so difficult to grasp why humans and other animals differ?

Oh my...oh my god. Please tell me you are joking. Tefal, just go back to school please. No personal attacks - Gilly.

Because I know if somthing unexpected happened at 100mph, I'd be ****ed. And probbably be joining the dog in a puddle of blood in a twisted metal heap.

Or at the side of the road looking at the mangled corpse of some poor fool.

Oh my...oh my god. Please tell me you are joking. Tefal, just go back to school please. Seriously I can't believe how stupid you are.

riiiight, because I wouldn't put mine or other peoples lives at risk for a dog?

Yeah Tefal... You better go back to school because... Em...
What was the reason for the shock and outrage from our (now suspended) friend? What you said made sense to me.

For the animal lovers in this thread. I don't know if you realise but the fact is that many people do not feel the same way about animal life/rights that you do.

It is a subjective decision that we either value an animal's life as equal to that of a human, or we do not. It seems to me that those who feel one way cannot comprehend the thinking of those who think otherwise.

I do not believe an animal's life is equal to that of a human. You may think that I am uncaring, stupid, in-need-of-more-schooling, but people like me think your position is deluded. We don't understand how you can possibly think that an animal is equal to a human.

However I have no illusions that I can possibly make you change your mind. Your values and belief on this are closely held, as are mine. Nor for a second could you convince me that animal rights are equal to human rights.

In this specific case, I can understand that a dog lover could be distraught and disregard laws and safety to get medical attention for their pet (loved one). However you are going to have to accept that the law is on our side and that a policeman's first duty is to the safety of the humans involved - both those inside the car and possible accident victims.

Someone, I forget who, got it just right in saying that the policeman was right to stop the driver but failed to fully enact the serve part of "To Protect and Serve". This is a training issue, not a criminal one.

Dying dog does not equal an emergency (full stop).
Maybe the officer should have shot the dog in the head and put it out of its misery?

If it was a dying cat on the other hand, a police escort was probably in order. :p
